Look, the new 2024 Toyota 4Runner is out, and while many were expecting an exciting newly redesigned model, we got Toyota’d. Instead of getting upset about it, we should just enjoy the few new things it offers and just accept another model year that is the same as the last. In that spirit, the 2024 Toyota 4Runner gets two new colors this year, and we think they are pretty sweet. 

What colors does the 2024 Toyota 4Runner come in?

After a fairly disappointing reveal that the 2024 4Runner wouldn’t be getting the same level of updates that came for the Tundra, Sequoia, and Tacoma, there are at least two new colors for the 2024 4Runner. The new colors are called Underground and Terra. 

According to Toyota, Underground is a new color added to the full 2024 4Runner lineup, while Terra, the second new 4Runner paint color, is only for the TRD Pro trim. Toyota always makes a special premium paint color for the TRD Pro color. The 2023 TRD Pro color was Sola Octane Orange. This year, it’s Terra. 

What’s new for the 2024 Toyota 4Runner?

Toyota has Toyota’d us yet again on the 4Runner. This model is the last of the 4x4s that hasn’t changed in any significant way in a frustratingly long time. In a time when Toyota is ditching old motors like the classic 5.7-liter V8 found in the Tundra and Sequoia for decades, the 2024 4Runner still has the same old 4.0-liter V6, regardless of trim level.

The 2024 4Runner also still comes in the same trim levels, too: SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, and TRD Pro trims. 

One new addition is that all 2024 4Runner models will be equipped with Toyota Safety Sense P. This suite of driver assistance tech includes pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, sway warning, automatic high beams, high-speed dynamic radar cruise, and more.

Will the 2025 Toyota 4Runner be updated?

Many people were expecting Toyota to follow suit with the updated 4×4 line with the announcement of the 2024 4Runner. Now that we know the new 4Runner is basically the same as the old one but with two new paint colors and some added standard features, the speculation now shifts to the 2025 4Runner. Maybe next year, Toyota will bring us the new 4Runner we have been waiting for.
