Three-row SUVs are all the rage. Why? Consumers are looking for affordable ways to transport large groups of passengers regularly. Midsize models with three rows of seats can provide incredible value for the money. The demand for these vehicles has risen, and as a result, the segment is more competitive. Is the upcoming 2024 GMC Acadia midsize three-row SUV a Kia Telluride killer, or will it fall short and be outclassed by the popular South Korean model?

It’s no secret that brands are rushing to develop and improve upon existing midsize SUV nameplates. The success of models like the Kia Telluride is prompting competitors to focus more on the midsize three-row space. Toyota and Mazda are producing worthy challengers. Can General Motors do the same? The Acadia nameplate isn’t exactly a huge name in its segment, but its latest model year could be exactly what the brand needs to really compete.

New GMC Acadia highlights

  • Over 15 standard driver assistance and safety features
  • Impressive off-road configuration (Acadia AT4)
  • Panoramic sunroof option on every trim level
  • A total of nine available camera views/angles
  • Larger cargo area than previous model years
  • Available Head-up display (eight-inch diagonal)

American brand General Motors Company has clearly made some improvements to the Acadia. GMC hasn’t revealed its starting price yet, but expect the new midsize three-row SUV to start at around $40,000 before taxes and additional fees.

It’s larger than ever before, so its price should be significantly more expensive than the 2023 Acadia’s $36,800 starting price. Based on the information available, is the new 2024 GMC Acadia a Kia Telluride Killer?

The Kia Telluride isn’t going down without a fight

It’s tough to dethrone a king. The Telluride has reigned over its segment since it arrived. Additionally, it’s the quintessential family SUV in the eyes of thousands of consumers because of its affordability, practicality, and luxurious standard features.

South Korean Hyundai Motor Company and its Kia and Genesis brands have been on an absolutely historic run recently, winning several awards for various vehicles. Few SUVs get as much praise as the Telluride. Furthermore, the midsize three-row SUV’s older trims have even been selling for more than some newer models in recent years due to high demand.

It’ll take a serious contender to bring down the Telluride, and thus far, that isn’t the new Acadia. Another midsize three-row SUV has been on a sales streak, and it has a higher likelihood of dethroning Kia’s family SUV than the new GM model.

The Toyota Grand Highlander is selling like hotcakes

Toyota’s new midsize three-row SUV, the Toyota Grand Highlander, is one of the fastest-selling new vehicles. It’s more expensive than the Kia Telluride, but Toyota has a strong following because of its history of reliability. The Highlander nameplate has also built a huge following. If any midsize three-row SUV can dethrone the Kia Telluride, it’s the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander.

Let us know which midsize three-row SUV you think has the potential to take the Kia Telluride’s place in the comment section below.
