It feels like all cars today are selling fast. Overpriced? It doesn’t matter; it will sell. Too many miles? It doesn’t matter; it will sell. This is just how it is right now. The new car market is still trying to catch up on production, which means that many new cars are still flying out of the lots. You might be tempted to think the fastest-selling cars would be the cooler models like a Ford Bronco or Rivian or something, but that isn’t the case. The fastest-selling car right now is the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid. I know. I was surprised, too. But should we be?

The Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid might not be the most exciting car in the game right now, but it is the fastest-selling. An iseecars study found that the Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid sells in an average of 9.2 days for an average cost of $56,396.
This shouldn’t be a shock, though. Think about it; this SUV is a hybrid three-row Toyota. Why wouldn’t this sell like buttery hotcakes? Before the Grand Highlander was the regular Higlander, and people loved it. It stands to reason that a more efficient and larger version would kill.
What makes the Toyota Higlander Hybrid so great?
If you think about the Grand Highlander long enough, you might start to realize that it really does the same job as the completely wonderful Toyota Sienna. However, you probably also noticed that the Highlander isn’t a minivan. For reasons I still can’t wrap my head around, people hate minivans. The Highlander takes all the best parts of the Sienna (which many people don’t want because of its shape) and turns it into another shape – an SUV shape. This was the key to Grand Higlander’s success. It also proves how great minivans are, but I digress.
Something the Grand Highlander does better than the Sienna is the motor options. The only option the 2024 Sienna gets is the hybrid 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. The Grand Highlander can get the regular Highlander’s turbocharged 2.4-liter gas engine making 265 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, or a 2.5-liter hybrid making 243 hp but gets 34 MPG combined. The Grand Highlander can also get the Hybrid Max setup, a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid plucked from the Lexus RX making 362-hp.
Is the Toyota Grand Highlander comfortable?
Toyota graciously made this family-mobile for carving the crusts off PB&J, not carving corners in the canyons. Too often, automakers try to make every vehicle do everything. Thankfully, Toyota knew who the Grand Highlander is for and stuck to those needs. Again, the Grand Highlander mirrors the squishy and friendly ride of the Sienna.
How much does the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander cost?
Ugh. This is the worst part of writing about every good car. The Toyota Grand Highlander ain’t cheap, but y’all already knew that didn’t you? Toyota starts pricing for the Grand Highlander Hybrid at $44,670 for the XLE trim. The Platinum Max is the top tier of four hybrid trims, and it starts at $58,125.
Unfortunately, there are very few good new vehicles that most people can afford. This is simply the way the autos world has gone over the past few years. However, if you can find the bread, you can join the others in buying the fastest-selling car in America.
