With 2023 model year vehicles around the corner, electric vehicle (EV) shoppers are amped to see the newest electric offerings. Tesla fans are no different. However, if a Model 3 simply won’t do, you’ve probably got your eyes on a Model S. Here’s what we know about the upcoming 2023 Tesla Model S, limited as it may be.

What trims will the 2023 Tesla Model S offer?

The 2023 Tesla Model S will likely offer the same trim levels as the outgoing 2022 Model S. For customers who want their luxury Tesla sedan to cover as much range as possible, Tesla offers the Long Range trim. The Long Range, with its 405-mile EV range, is a class leader. Also, 670 horsepower from your dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) EV is nothing to dismiss.

However, if you want your Model S to suck you back into your seat, you could opt for the Plaid trim. The Plaid sacrifices some range, with a total of 396 miles, but it delivers in performance. Specifically, the Tesla Model S Plaid packs a stratospheric 1,020 horsepower in a sedan with seating for five. Better yet, Tesla claims that the Model S Plaid will launch its operator to 60 mph in just 1.99 seconds. 

The 2023 Tesla Model S will probably have a similar price to the outgoing model, if not a little higher.

How much is a 2023 Tesla Model S?

Given the steadily increasing trends of Tesla pricing over the past few years, the 2023 Model S will likely cost more than the 2022 car. According to Edmunds, the Model S will have an estimated starting price of around $95,000. However, that number might be slightly conservative, considering the most recent Tesla price bumps. For instance, the 2022 Tesla Model S Dual Motor Long Range costs around $104,990 after the latest increases. 

As a result, the next model year of Tesla’s flagship sedan will probably start at over $100,000. Still, the 2022 Plaid trim didn’t increase in price with the latest adjustments. Since the 2022 Plaid begins at $135,990, a modest price increase for the 2023 model year may push the price closer to $140,000.    

Will Tesla prices go down in 2023?

Considering that Tesla increased its prices multiple times in 2021 and 2022, prices are not likely to fall in 2023. If the trends of the previous two years continue, 2023 will see prices increase. However, Tesla has raised prices for different trims at different times, so ascertaining which models will increase in price is difficult. 

The Long Range and Plaid will likely be in the 2023 Tesla Model S lineup.

Is a Tesla Model S worth buying?

The Tesla Model S is the most accomplished electric sedan on the market. If you care about the cachet of Tesla EVs, it is difficult to beat. However, the 2023 Tesla Model S has competition to face now. For instance, EV sedan shoppers could consider the Lucid Air. The Air is available in four trims, including the Air Touring, which has 406 miles of range at a lower starting price than a Model S Long Range.
