You could be forgiven for thinking that the Ram brand only sells one full-size truck, but there are actually two versions of the popular 1500 model. The 2022 Ram 1500 is available in the standard form as well as something that is known as the Ram 1500 Classic. With the 1500 Classic pickup truck, buyers get the benefits of a more old-school truck mixed with modern reliability. But, is this a vehicle that is worth purchasing?

What does Ram 1500 Classic mean?

The Ram 1500 Classic is essentially the previous generation of the 1500 truck. While the current Ram 1500 was redesigned in 2020, this version retains the features and capability of the last generation. Better yet, it is also cheaper than the regular 1500. It has a starting price of under $30,000, which some full-size truck buyers are likely to appreciate.

The 1500 Classic can come equipped with an available 5.7-liter V8 engine which produces 395 horsepower. Plus it has a high-strength steel frame to handle long-term use. Also notable is the variety of safety tech available to this pickup truck. These safety features will add to overall driver and passenger confidence.

Should you buy the 1500 Classic full-size truck?

This is an ideal truck for those who want legitimate utility and capability, but do not need all of the features offered by the current Ram 1500. It may be a generation old, but it does still have a modern feel and comes with solid projected reliability. Whether you are shopping for a V6 truck or a pickup with a V8, the 2022 Ram 1500 classic is equipped to answer the call.

Better yet, the 1500 Classic is available in three distinct trim levels. This allows purchasers to get the right amount of truck for their specific needs. The base trim is the Tradesman package, it makes the most sense for those in need of a simple work truck. The Express is the next trim up, this package adds things like foglights and improved all-around styling, but it does cost more at $31,015.

Those looking for a truck that looks aggressive are likely to be impressed by the Ram 1500 Classic Warlock. The Warlock trim is available with four-wheel drive and it has black accents to look tough. For the Warlock trim, the MSRP is $40,635 before options. So, some of the value proposition may be lost, but it does not cost as much as a higher trim 2022 Ram 1500.

Will there be a 2023 Ram 1500 Classic?

According to Automotive News, the Ram 1500 Classic pickup truck will continue production through 2023. But it is unclear what the future of this vehicle will be as Ram plans electric truck models and further modernization of the 1500.

We do hope that Ram keeps the 1500 Classic around for longer because it helps those who need an affordable full-size truck the ability to buy one. Even if it may not be the most refined option on the market today.
