If you want to go off-roading without paying for the Ram Rebel or Ram 1500 TRX, then we have a cost-saving solution. The 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition delivers off-roading upgrades that are actually affordable.

What comes with the 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition?

You can get started with the 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition for about $40,085. This price doesn’t include the mandatory $1,695 destination charge, but it’s still pretty darn cheap compared to rivals. The Ram Rebel starts at about $47,085, and the Ram 1500 TRX ups the ante to $70,325.

Plus, the BackCountry Edition comes with upgraded looks. You get black detailing that features black-two-tone paint, 18-inch black wheels, black badging, black exhaust tips, back headlamp bezels, black mirrors, and black running boards.

A body-color grille surround and tonneau cover are also included to set the BackCountry apart from the rest of the light-duty lineup. The cab consists of a black interior with bucket seats, a BackCountry badge on the instrument panel, and all-weather slush mats from Mopar.

How capable is the Ram BackCountry Edition?

The 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition is available in the 4×4 Quad and 4×4 CrewCab configurations. The 5.7-liter V8 engine generates 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, you can tow up to 12,750 lbs.

Plus, the BackCountry Edition includes the 4×4 off-road Group with tow hooks, skid plates, electronic locking rear differential, off-road calibrated shocks, hill descent control, and all-terrain tires.

The Bed Utility Group provides upper adjustable tie-downs, the RamBox bed extender deployable bed step, bed lighting, and a spray-in bed liner. There are storage bins on each side of the bed too.

This serves as the best model for those with an active lifestyle to gain off-road features straight from the factory. Mike Koval Jr., the Ram Brand Chief Executive Officer, shared that Ram is passionate about providing the best combination of performance, comfort, and technology.

The Ram 1500 BackCountry will resonate positively with drivers who live an active lifestyle. This is the latest example of how Ram delivered features and durability to continue winning over more truck enthusiasts.

But what about the 2022 Ram Rebel?

If you want a little more than the 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition has to offer, you can consider the 2022 Ram Rebel. The BackCountry Edition will be available in the third quarter of 2021, but we’re still waiting to learn more about the Rebel.

The 2020 Rebel features 18-inch wheels, a locking differential, off-road suspension, and more. The suspension is available with coil springs or air springs. It’s available with V6, V8, and a diesel powertrain.

The interior includes luxury materials such as heated and ventilated seats, premium leather surfaces, genuine wood accents, and a panoramic sunroof.

Because the Rebel is about $6,000 more than the BackCountry Edition, we expect it to feature more comfort and luxury. It will probably be a little stronger and better equipped for off-roading, but both trucks should get the job done. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
