Yes, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is worth buying. It serves as a more affordable option with fresh styling and updated tech to battle rivals like the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Plus, it takes going green seriously. 

The Hyundai Tucson has an MSRP of $23,700. The gas-powered model gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and up to 28 mpg on the highway. This is average for its class. 

If you upgrade to the Tucson Hybrid, the MSRP increases to $29,050. This is about a $5,350 increase. The hybrid model gets an EPA-estimated 38 mpg in the city, on the highway, and combined. 

The Tucson PHEV or Plug-in Hybrid has an MSRP of about $35,975. Now we’re up by $10,000 over the base model. The PHEV delivers an EPA-estimated 33-mile electric range with about 80 MPGe. You may be able to save if you qualify for a tax credit. 

What are the Tucson Hybrid benefits? 

One reason to upgrade to a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid model includes more power. The Tucson comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 187 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. According to critics, it’s a little sluggish. The Tucson can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 10.2 seconds. 

The Tucson Hybrid is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, 44.2-kW electric motor, and a 1.49-kWh battery. They combine to generate 226 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. This is a stout increase. 

With the Tucson PHEV, you get the same 1.6-liter engine with an e-motor and a 13.8-kWh battery. It provides 261 hp and 224 lb-ft of torque. 

The Tucson Hybrid uses regenerative braking to self-charge its 1.49-kWh battery. But you will need to plug the PHEV in to recharge it fully. With a level 2 charger, the battery can be replenished in about two hours. 

A 7.2kW onboard charger is included. If you plug it into a standard home outlet, it will recharge the battery in about eight hours. Once you run out of charge, the Tucson will switch to its standard hybrid operation.

If you opt for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, you’ll enjoy similar luxuries to the SEL trim. It includes roof rails, tinted rear windows, keyless entry, push-button start, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver seat, rear passenger vents, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, blind-spot monitoring, blind-spot intervention, and adaptive cruise control. 

With the Tucson PHEV, you get AWD, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, heated seats in the front and rear, a 10.25-inch digital cluster display, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen. It also includes the Bose audio system and Remote Park Assist with Hyundai Digital Key. 

Upgrading to the Hybrid and PHEV models seem to include plenty of perks and upgrades while allowing you to cut down emissions. It’s worth the extra cash.
