Audi makes no qualms about being an innovative company. Performance, technology, and comfort are the pillars of each vehicle that rolls off the line. And with the upcoming introduction of the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron, the automaker is planning to double its electric vehicle portfolio

The internet is buzzing with anticipation and speculation about what else this new EV will bring to the table. Audi is sharing a few details about what consumers can expect under the hood, in the cabin, and from behind the wheel. One feature, in particular, is revolutionary in that it’s the first-ever to be added to a car of any kind.

What’s new with the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron?

The Audi Q4 e-tron is an entirely new model. And Car and Driver offers a few predictions about this upcoming Audi introduction. It will come as a Sportback and a more traditional-looking compact SUV. It will fit between the compact Audi Q5 and the subcompact Audi Q3, with a maximum seating capacity of five occupants. Pricing is expected to start around $45,000, although Edmunds estimates it to be closer to $48,000.

This new Audi Q4 e-tron will offer a base powertrain of a 201-hp electric engine and a 77.0-kWh battery pack. An all-wheel-drive variation and beefier dual-motor setup will also be optional. The battery pack will likely cover 250 miles with each charge. The Audi is designed to compete against Tesla’s Model Y in a big way. The Volvo XC40 Recharge, the Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the Chevrolet Bolt EUV better be ready, too.

A first-ever new feature you won’t find anywhere else

Audi didn’t just pay attention to EV engineering with the new Q4 e-tron. Turning its focus inside, the German automaker expects the Audi Q4 e-tron will dazzle consumers. Enthusiasts can expect a revolutionary cabin experience. MotorTrend says there are high-tech displays throughout, similar to the ID4.

One touchscreen stretches 11.6-inches and is responsible for controls and infotainment. It’s neatly housed above the center console. The 10.25-inch digital instrument panel is in front of the steering wheel. A heads-up display is also prominent, with key details including driver aids, navigation, and speed. But more impressive is the first-ever addition of a Sonos premium audio platform.

Sonos might is redefining the audio experience

Audi is partnering with Sonos to offer a first-ever automotive sound system. Sonos is a software audio company known primarily for its home theater, acoustics engineering, and speaker designs. Using proprietary software, the company claims to combine customized tweeters and woofers in creating entirely revolutionary audible results. In the cabin of the new Audi Q4 e-tron, occupants can expect a truly immersive sound experience. Jamming out to your favorite song will have a whole new meaning to your senses.

What we know about the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron

There are some details not yet available about the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron. But the industry critics are sharing what is known right now. There will likely be five different driving modes: comfort, auto, an efficiency mode, individual, and dynamic mode selections. There is an adaptive suspension, reported to read the road every five milliseconds to help adapt driving experiences.

Audi dealerships will have the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron available towards the end of the year, but no date has officially been offered. There will probably be more groundbreaking details to share as Audi rolls out this new Q4 e-tron. For now, any Audi enthusiasts who also consider themselves to be music aficionados will have something to celebrate. The Sonos sound system will presumably deliver a pulse-pumping audio experience.
