You probably have not recently seen a Buick LaCrosse and remarked about the excellent styling. While Buick still makes a few cars and sport utility vehicles elsewhere, the Buick LaCrosse sedan is no longer in production in the U.S. However, the automaker sold 14 units in 2022. Justice for the LaCrosse!

According to GM Authority, General Motors reported 2,273,942 new car, truck, and SUV deliveries in 2022. GM sales were up overall, thanks to Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC, but sales as Buick went down. Buick doesn’t have much in the lineup anymore, limited to the Encore (including the Encore GX SUV), Envision, and Enclave.

However, there were some leftover Buick LaCrosse sedans available for purchase. GM stopped producing the LaCrosse in 2019, which means these 2019 Buick LaCrosse sedans have just been sitting on dealership lots for the last two or three years. With 14 deliveries last year, someone probably got a pretty good deal on a brand-new car.

Vehicles like a 2019 Buick LaCrosse are sometimes called “zombie cars” since the automaker no longer produces this model. These zombie Buicks are just lurking on dealership lots throughout the country. While the LaCrosse ranged from $30,495 to $45,795 when it hit the market a few years ago, that is pretty reasonable compared to 2022 prices.

Sales of the Buick LaCrosse sedan did not help the brand

The Buick LaCrosse sedan didn’t have much success in the U.S., even when it was in production. It first hit the market in 2017; by 2019, Buick had removed it from the lineup. Buick offered six trim levels, Base, Preferred, Sport Touring, Essence, Premium, and Avenir. The first three came equipped with front-wheel drive, while the others received all-wheel drive as an available upgrade.

Buick has never been a significant player in the game, except when it had Tiger Woods as a spokesperson. However, it only offers small SUVs like the Envision, Enclave, and Encore these days. GM reports that Buick sales were down 42.43% in 2022, moving only 103,519 units in total. The Encore had a good year, up 208.9% over 2021 and selling 2,487 units. Sales for the Encore GX were down 10.1% but still sold 9,052 units in 2022.

With other discontinued models and the 14 LaCrosse sales, Buick sold 26,921 cars in 2022, a 6.5% decrease from the 28,789 units sold in 2021.

What other GM vehicles sold 14 units or less?

The only other GM vehicles that sold under 1,000 units in 2022 were brand-new vehicles. Cadillac’s new LYRIQ electric SUV sold 86 units, but it only started delivering those at the end of the year. GMC delivered 72 Hummer EV Pickup trucks last year, but that only recently hit the market as well.

Some other low-sellers were the Cadillac CT-4, the Chevrolet Silverado MD (Medium Duty), and the Chevy Spark. GM’s best-sellers for 2022 were the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, the Chevy Equinox SUV, and the GMC Sierra truck. Most of these would still cost more than a 2019 Buick LaCrosse sedan.

If anyone is interested, you can still get a new Buick LaCrosse in China. Otherwise, you might find one on the back of your local dealership still looking for a home.
