The 2022 Toyota Tundra is the most exciting Tundra model in years. This model year is a much-needed redesign. Unfortunately, demand is high for the newest Tundra. If you ordered the full-size Toyota pickup truck you might not get your 2022 model until 2023.

Don’t expect to drive your 2022 Toyota Tundra anytime soon

Supply issues have ravaged the automotive industry in 2021. From the global semiconductor chip shortage to just regular old vehicle shortages, it seems like no automaker is safe from this huge inconvenience.

Historic automakers like Ford have experienced serious supply issues. Even Tesla, a company that once seemed unphased by the industry’s woes, is having its fair share of issues. According to The Drive, buyers could wait as long as 18 months for some Tundra trims.

While base model Tundra models may be delivered to buyers sooner, the delays will still impact thousands of Tundra fans. The demand for the full-size pickup will be tough to meet for the Japanese automaker since the Tundra is the first complete redesign in decades.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tundra really worth all the hype? Toyota has managed to get rid of the standard V8 and still produce incredible power with a V6 engine. The 2022 Tundra is also the first model year to feature a hybrid alternative.

The 2022 model is completely refreshed. It offers a more stylish exterior, a more refined cabin, and better ride quality than previous model years. It is a serious upgrade in every way.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra uses a twin-turbocharged i-FORCE 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 389 horsepower. The hybrid Tundra makes a massive 437 horsepower using Toyota’s i-FORCE MAX engine and electric motor powertrain. The Tundra gets 18 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. This is a huge improvement from the 2021 model’s 13 miles per gallon in the city and 17 miles per gallon on the highway.

The 2022 Tundra features a huge 14-inch audio multimedia touchscreen, replacing the Tundra’s antiquated infotainment system. The TRD Pro model will feature enhanced off-roading capability thanks to an upgraded suspension, Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Select terrain control system, and an aluminum skid plate.

When Will the 2022 Toyota Tundra Be Available?

The 2022 Toyota Tundra starts at around $38,000. The Tundra features many improvements, but its price is hefty compared to many of its biggest rivals. The 2022 Ford F-150 starts at just $29,640. The F-150 is less powerful, but it has better gas mileage, which is extremely important in today’s economic climate.

The 2022 Tundra is the best Tundra yet, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you should buy it over other full-size pickup trucks. Ultimately, the Tundra has come a long way, but it still doesn’t provide enough value for its price for most consumers. The Tundra remains a powerhouse and will be exciting to own and drive for those who can afford it.
