Genesis is one of the more recent success stories in the automotive industry. Genesis, the luxury offshoot brand of Hyundai, had a rough start initially. The brand doesn’t have a long tradition they have to adhere to, giving them a blank slate to create the best vehicles they can.

Some of these excellent vehicles are limited-market EVs. These EVs are only sold in some parts of the world, yet, they are so popular that they are outselling one Genesis model that is available in all 50 states. Here is everything you need to know about the Genesis sales numbers so far this year, and why the least popular is selling worse than the limited-market EVs in the lineup.

What are the top-selling Genesis vehicles?

According to GoodCarBadCar, the best-selling Genesis vehicles so far this year include the GV70, GV80, and the G70.

The Genesis GV70 is a premium luxury performance crossover SUV with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and nearly 300 horsepower under the hood. It is Genesis’ most popular vehicle, and with its world-class interior and refreshing design, it is no surprise.

The Genesis GV80, despite its similar looks, is an entirely different vehicle from the GV70. While the GV70 is an athletic crossover SUV, the GV80 is a larger SUV with seating capabilities for seven passengers. A more significant 380-horsepower V6 engine is also an optional feature. The GV70 and GV80 have both sold 16,615 units and 11,692 units so far this year respectively.

The Genesis G70 is the brand’s more traditional sedan option. The G70 comes standard with a 252 horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with optional all-wheel drive capabilities. This little turbocharged engine also offers solid fuel economy numbers for a luxury sedan, with highway fuel economy reaching 31 MPG. This sporty luxury sedan has sold around 8,932 units this year, outselling other sporty vehicles like the Mazda MX-5 Miata and the Toyota GR86.

What is the worst-selling Genesis vehicle?

The worst-selling Genesis vehicles include the G80, and GV60, and the worst-selling vehicle in the Genesis lineup, the G90.

The G80 is Genesis’ luxury midsize sedan. Seated above the G70, it offers a more premium experience. So far, only 3,689 units have been sold this year.

The Genesis GV60 is a premium performance EV that is only available in select markets. This Genesis is a fairly popular choice for luxury EV buyers, but due to the vehicle not being sold everywhere, it can be tough for it to keep up with the other vehicles in the lineup. 1,839 GV60s have been sold so far this year.

This makes the G90 the worst-selling vehicle in the Genesis lineup. The G90 is Genesis’ flagship luxury sedan. The G90 isn’t competing against other sedans, it is competing against the best luxury vehicles in the world from BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus.

According to Genesis, the G90 starts at $88,400, with fully loaded models reaching the $100,000 price tag fairly easily. With the G90 being produced as an ultra-luxury vehicle, only 930 units have been sold so far this year.
