When cars like the Honda Accord can contend with the luxury status quo, it’s time to level up. Genesis has never been afraid to push boundaries. In its six short years, it has become a true luxury car contender. No model embodies that excellence more than the Genesis G90, and the fully-loaded version takes on the legends and leaves them behind.

For $99,500 the fully-loaded Genesis G90 doesn’t ask any questions

With most luxury cars, you’ll sift through endless pages of options, extras, and add-ons to get the premium luxury experience promised in the brochure. In this realm, Genesis is a breath of fresh air. There are simply two configurations to choose from. Base with the 3.5-liter turbocharged engine, and the 3.5-liter turbocharged and E-Supercharged model. That’s it. By the time you shell out your nearly $100,000, you’ve got the best that Genesis has to offer. No further questions, your honor.

So what do you get for your $100k? In addition to the E-Supercharger, you get a luxury driving experience that far outclasses its price tag.

Easy Close Power Doors add a level of convenience and class that you never needed, but won’t be able to live without. Massage seats at all four main seating positions mean that, whether you’re at the wheel or someone else is handling the driving duties, comfort is guaranteed. Those rear seats are power-reclining as well, so go ahead and get cozy back there.

The surfaces are wrapped in a classy Nappa leather and matte finish wood grain trim. Microfiber suede coats the headliner and pillars, while ambient interior lighting provides a comfortable glow for nighttime travels.

The only disappointment is the three-zone automatic climate control system. Competitors like the Audi A8, Volvo S90, and BMW 7 Series offer four-zone climate settings, so two rear-seat occupants can adjust things to their liking. A single rear-seat zone isn’t a huge letdown, but feels like an unusual miss in a car that, otherwise, punches so far above its weight.

Still, power rear and side sunshades block out the sun, or the haters, depending on where you are. And Active Noise Control turns the entire cabin of the 2023 Genesis G90 into a sensory deprivation chamber from which you can focus on work, the road ahead, or nothing at all.

Premium tech features in the new Genesis G90

In addition to the lavish comfort features, the Genesis G90 is, as you’d expect, replete with a host of fancy tech. Front and rear wireless charging pads are a welcome sight. However, keeping the phone centered on the pad through corners is a challenge.

For you hands-on drivers, a heads-up display, fingerprint authentication system, and remote smart parking all add convenience and gravitas to the driving and ownership experience of the fully-loaded Genesis G90.

Finally, the G90 comes with a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system, so you can listen to your favorite music, podcasts, and phone calls with staggering clarity.

Comfort-focused performance

Even the performance of the fully loaded 2023 Genesis G90 centers around comfort. The multi-chamber air suspension system provides responsive handling but reacts instantaneously to bumps. This further isolates the cabin from bridge joists, potholes, and road imperfections, enhancing the G90’s in-cabin serenity.

Powering all of this is a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 with a 48-volt E-Supercharger. This combination is good for 409 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque through the all-wheel drive system. But it’s not the numbers that are important as much as how the system works.

The E-Supercharger feeds pressurized air into the combustion chamber via an electric motor. This reduces turbo lag without adding the drag or noise of a mechanical supercharger. In short, it both adds and smooths power delivery for satisfying performance and an ultra-refined ride.

Is a fully-loaded 2023 Genesis G90 worth it?

Considering what comes in this full-size luxury sedan for just under $100,000, it’s hard to say it doesn’t justify its price tag. Overall, a fully-loaded Genesis G90 has just minor drawbacks and a wealth of top-class features. If it wanted to, the brand could easily charge $20,000 for this kit and get it. Let’s hope they never figure it out.
