The 2023 Genesis G90 is the luxury brand’s flagship model, and now it has an interior to match. Genesis has just released photos of the newly redesigned interior of the luxury sedan. While the Genesis G90 was already a lovely model, this interior upgrade sent the model into the stratosphere.

Who makes Genesis?

Genesis is the luxury branch of Hyundai. Despite the brand’s quickly growing fandom, Genesis is still a bit of an obscure brand to many. After Tiger Woods’ unfortunate accident in his Genesis GV80, the brand got a bit more name recognition from the news coverage.

Even before this newly updated interior, MotorTrend set it against the BMW X7, Lincoln Continental, and the Lexus LS, and the Genesis won the comparison. The G90 is a well-designed luxury sedan, but it also comes with a bit of attitude. Genesis gave the 2023 G90 a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 making 375 hp in place of the outgoing 5.0-liter V8. Both the regular and long-wheel-base versions can get AWD.

The 2023 model has only improved upon the 2022 year model. Genesis says that the goal for the G90’s interior is to support drivers ergonomically as well as emotionally. MotorTrend got an in-depth look at the G90 interior and was blown away.

What’s new for the 2023 Genesis G90?

One of the coolest new features is something called the Mood Curator. This feature adjusts the ambient lighting and sound system while the window shades open and close automatically, and a fragrance sprays through the air vents to relax you.

This may sound a bit silly or over the top, but once you see the full picture of this car, it all starts to feel as natural and fitting as the luxurious Spirit of Ecstasy, Rolls Royce’s hood ornament; In a vacuum, it feels absurd, but on the car, it all just seems to fit.

Another new feature for the 2023 Genesis G90 is massaging seats. Between the finely quilted leather massaging seats and rear footrests for the reclining rear seats, the Mood Curator hitting the cabin with a spritz of perfume all of sudden makes a bit more sense.

The G90 is all about attention to detail

Genesis kept the flow going by specifically designing the location of each of the 23 speakers included in the Bang & Olufsen sound system. Although the car is equipped with plenty of sound-deadening material, the system minimizes road noise by adjusting the in-car noise depending on the vehicle’s speed.

Other small details include driver alerts only coming to the hidden speakers in the driver’s headrest. Genius. Another fine detail is the care Genesis took not to overwhelm the driver or passengers with screen overload. The infotainment screen and the instrument cluster are nicely sized but segmented in a way that feels luxurious and tasteful instead of tacky and overdone.

Lastly, instead of doing the same old tired burled wood trim, Genesis did a more contemporary and surprisingly classy carbon fiber trim with delicate metal accents.

How much is the 2023 Genesis G90?

Genesis hasn’t officially released finalized pricing yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the 2023 Genesis G90 started around $75,000.

While many still struggle with the shifting tide that is Kia and Hyundai, the truth is, these OEMs are making some of the best cars on the market. J.D. Power recently performed its yearly reliability survey and found that Kia earned the top spot overall, and Genesis was named the most dependable luxury brand.

There is no way around it; a starting price of $75,000 is a lot of money. That means the Genesis is firmly in the legacy luxury brand territory like Mercedes and BMW. However, pound for pound, the 2023 G90 looks to be a tough one to beat outright. It looks like some old dogs might have a real contender coming from Korea.
