The 2024 Dodge Hornet is one of the best small SUVs when it comes to its impressive acceleration time. However, it happens to be one of the worst SUVs regarding sales, as several unsold models remain on dealer lots. However, there are a few key reasons why the Dodge Hornet isn’t more popular. The 2023 Dodge Hornet is also largely unpopular compared to options like the Honda CR-V.

The Dodge Hornet is among the worst small SUVs in sales

According to Good Car Bad Car, the Dodge Hornet has sold 7,418 units so far in 2024. Unfortunately, this makes what many call one of the best small SUVs also one of the slowest selling. In fact, most sources report that it’s the slowest-selling vehicle and has more unsold units on dealer lots than any other model. Luckily, the Dodge Hornet seems on track to surpass 9,314 units sold in 2023.

Price might be the most significant problem standing in the Dodge Hornet’s path to success. This Dodge is a compact SUV, but Dodge has priced it more similar to a midsize model. The 2024 Dodge Hornet starts at $31,400, which is a bit much for a vehicle that hasn’t had time to build a reputation. For example, the well-trusted Honda CR-V costs at least a couple thousand less.

It’s not ‘Dodge’ enough

The 2024 Dodge Hornet, much like the 2023 model, is fast. In fact, the hybrid version of the compact SUV stands as the fastest SUV in its class. However, this isn’t enough to attract most buyers because it lacks in other areas. For starters, this is small, even for a compact SUV. It’s not the best small SUV for cargo space, and the passenger space is also a bit compromised.

One of the other reasons more people aren’t buying the 2024 Dodge Hornet has to do with how they see the SUV. Dodge has a particular reputation among its loyal buyers. For the most part, people know the automaker for the rugged nature of its vehicles. The Dodge Hornet is fast and powerful, but rugged it is not. This is why Dodge buyers still love the Durango.

Overall, the Dodge Hornet has quite a bit to offer. Not only is it among the best small SUVs for performance, but this SUV also has several top-of-the-line features. Still, most people don’t see it as worth the price, nor does it fit with the Dodge brand.
