If you’re interested in the GMC Sierra 1500, then you’re interested in taking luxury to the next level. It builds upon the Chevrolet Silverado with nicer materials. But why stop there? You can go straight to the top with the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate.

What’s standard with the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate?

The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate starts things off with the most powerful engine option. It features the 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

You can also opt for the available turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six Duramax diesel engine with 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Personally, I found the V8 to have a smoother and faster performance.

However, the fuel savings with the diesel engine may come in handy. It gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and up to 30 mpg on the highway, although I never got above 22 mpg. With the V8 engine, I hovered around 15 mpg.

Anyway, the Sierra Denali Ultimate also features the signature Denali Vader Chrome grille and rides on 22-inch low gloss black aluminum wheels with machined accents. You also get power-deploying side steps and a carbon fiber bed.

There’s a Bluetooth speaker built into the tailgate, plus the interior has a 12-speaker premium Bose audio system with surround sound. Other tech features include a head-up display, wireless phone charging pad, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.

The Ultimate Alpine Umber interior has a sunroof, full-grain leather seating, a power rear window, authentic open-pore Paldao wood trim pieces that are laser etched, and 16-way power front seats with a massaging function.

Plus, the 2023 Denali Ultimate has the Super Cruise semi-automated driving system. It’s extremely intelligent and keeps a proper distance from surrounding traffic. It felt safer than the Ford Blue Cruise system.

What’s new for the 2023 GMC Sierra?

The GMC Sierra 1500 is primarily a carryover model. The 2023 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate features the same options as the 2022 model, which received a mid-cycle refresh. It’s part of the fourth Sierra generation that debuted in 2019.

However, the GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X AEV edition just arrived. It builds upon the AT4X model with 18-inch AEV Salta wheels wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain MT tires.

The AT4X AEV has additional steel skid plates, steel bumpers with recovery points, and a factory-installed winch. It has off-road tuned dampers with a locking differential in the front and rear.

Because it has larger tires and heavier off-roading equipment, the Denali Ultimate has a much smoother ride than the AT4X. The Denali Ultimate even has an adaptive suspension to improve comfort and handling. But it isn’t as durable for off-roading.

How much does the 2023 Sierra 1500 cost?

Pricing for the GMC Sierra 1500 starts at $37,200 for the Pro trim or entry-level model with the regular cab. Upgrading to the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate increases the price to $82,200.

These prices are the MSRPs and don’t include the $1,795 destination fee. The Sierra AT4X model starts at $81,700. Upgrading the AT4X AEV Edition costs about $90,440.

The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 starts at $36,300 and goes up to $69,800 for the Silverado ZR2 model. The Silverado and Sierra have a lot in common, including the same engine options.

However, the Sierra 1500 comes with more standard comfort and convenience features. It has more standard tech and safety features as well.

We’ve driven the Denali Ultimate and AT4X models. We can’t wait to take the AT4X AEV Edition for a spin. Stay tuned for more updates.
