If you can’t judge a book by its cover, can you judge an SUV by its looks? A few great SUVs full of power, capability, and more have that particular minivan look. But if you can get past the soccer mom vibe, you will undoubtedly enjoy driving around town or toward your next adventure.

These SUVs Look Like Minivans

Don’t let the look of these SUVs fool you. They are powerful options for towing, can handle snow with ease, incorporate features for comfort, off-roading, and much more. Walking away based on their looks could be a huge mistake.

1. The Dodge Durango

The Dodge Durango has that broad minivan look and curve that makes you do a double-take. It looks like a car that was stretched out to be the size of a minivan instead of an SUV, but that’s no reason not to buy it.

With a starting price around $30k, it can seat up to 7 or 8 passengers based on the build you select. Plus, it’s the cheapest SUV you can buy with a V8 in it. With the V8, it can tow up to 7,800 lb, so go ahead and tow your boat.

Also, the Dodge Durango is available in all-wheel-drive so it can handle snow and a little off-roading. It has too much power and muscle to be called a minivan and is one bad to the bone family option.

2. The Kia Sorento

Despite Kia attempting to change its lackluster soccer mom reputation with edgy SUVs like the Kia Seltos or Kia Telluride, the Kia Sorento isn’t there yet. The wide grille and lack of lines on the side to provide a confident look are familiar to a minivan’s shape.

However, by starting around $26k, this is one of the most affordable SUVs with three rows. You can go with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine option or upgrade to the 3.3-liter V6 engine instead of ample power. Depending on which build you choose, the Kia Sorento can tow between 2,00 to 5,000 lb.

Feel confident to tackle challenges with the dynamic all-wheel-drive feature. Also, benefit from 85 cubic feet of cargo space to fit your entire family and all of your gear comfortably. The large leather seats are perfect for road trips.

3. The Honda Pilot

The Honda Pilot used to have a more confident looking boxy design, so what happened? Now the roof has that minivan curve with a tailgate that feels similar to the Honda Odyssey. Improving the design could help its fuel economy, but the Honda Pilot only gets up to 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

To get started in the Honda Pilot, you’ll have to spend around $33k, but it can sit up to eight passengers. The Honda Pilot comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that’s capable of towing up to 5,000 lb.

The Honda Pilot is offered in all-wheel-drive and is praised for being one of the best SUVs with three rows to drive in snow. The AWD system automatically adjusts to changing conditions to improve control and stability.
