The GMC Sierra 1500 Can’t Compete With the Ford F-150

GMC Sierra 1500 vs. Ford F-150 

The GMC Sierra 1500 begins around $29k,  which isn’t bad compared to rivals. This price is for the regular cab. However, for the crew cab, you’ll have to pay about $35k, making it more expensive compared to other options.

The Ford F-150 begins around $28k for the regular cab, and the SuperCrew Cab starts around $35k, so you will save if you need a more spacious full-size truck with the Ford F-150. Also, both trucks have a similar fuel economy and get up to 28 mpg on the highway. 

Ford F-150 and GMC Sierra 1500 Power 

The GMC Sierra 1500 has a standard 4.3-liter V6 engine that pumps out 285 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, which isn’t bad. You can also upgrade to the 2.7-liter turbo V6 for 310-hp, 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine, and the 6.2-liter V8 engine for 420-hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

You can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds with the GMC Sierra V8 engine. Also, it can tow up to 12,100 lb when properly equipped. The maxim payload is up to 2,104 lb, so it has enough power to get the job done. 

The standard engine for the Ford F-150 is a 3.3-liter V6 that makes 290 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque. So, you get more power with the base model and way more torque. You can also upgrade to the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine and the 3.5-liter V6 for 395-hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. 

In the Ford F-150, you can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. It can also tow up to 13,200 lb, which is quite a bit more than the GMC Sierra 1500. The Ford F-150 has the best in class payload capacity of up to 2,309 lb too. 

To compare off-roading capabilities, you’ll have to look at the X31 and FX4 packages. However, for towing, the Ford F-150 has pro-trailer backup assistance, dynamic hitch assistance, an 8″ trailer information screen, and a blind-spot alert covering the trailer’s length.

The GMC Sierra 1500 trailer tow mirrors and a class-exclusive electronic automatic trailer parking brake with an integrated trailer brake controller. It also has an available trailer diagnostic screen. 

GMC Sierra 1500 and Ford F-150 features 

The Ford F-150 has storage bins under the seats, room in the center console for a laptop, storage under the glove box, and a flat load floor. But the GMC Sierra has a multi-functional tailgate that’s pretty neat. The 2021 Ford F-150 is getting a multi-functional tailgate now too.

If you’re taller, the GMC Sierra has the class-leading height and legroom for the front and rear seats. It also has triple-sealed doors with technology to dampen sounds for a quiet interior. It’s one advantage could be the more refined ride quality.
