Skip The Buick Enclave And Buy The Mazda CX-5 Instead

Buying a used SUV can be stressful, and it seems like there are a hundred options to choose from that all have the same, or similar, features. It’s hard to know which SUV is the right one for you, and sometimes that means doing ten hours of research or spending way too much time at the dealership – but then again, isn’t any amount of time at the dealership too much? You might be out to look at a used luxury SUV like the Buick Enclave, but buying the Mazda CX-5 might leave you better off.

The Buick Enclave could use improvements overall

The Buick Enclave is a beautiful yet modest option for an SUV that has continued to receive necessary improvements over the years. Buying a new Buick Enclave has so far proven to be fine, but previous model years have been riddled with a few unfortunate problems.

Newer model years, like 2017 through today, have been reliable options for commuter cars or family vehicles with no real reliability issues, but that isn’t the case with older models.

The older models have received many owner complaints as well as recalls that affected the safety and reliability of the car, two major things that potential buyers – especially parents – take into consideration when looking at a car to buy.

Why the CX-5 stands out

Reliability is one of the biggest factors many consumers look for, and SUVs are the vehicle of choice for many families because they have a lot of space and practicality. While you could spend the money to buy a brand new Buick Enclave to get the reliability you are looking for, it isn’t always within a reasonable budget to spend ‘new car money.’

Of course, buying a used Buick Enclave also seems out of the question as many parents would be concerned with the Consumer Reports low scoring of the vehicle and questionable reliability. A great alternative for the Enclave is the Mazda CX-5, which is similar in price, size, and stature, but not in problems.

The Mazda CX-5 is comparable to the Buick Enclave in a lot of ways, and that’s part of the reason why it makes such a great alternative. The CX-5 has a lot better track record with reliability that sets it apart.

Mazda all around just seems to be a more well-received brand, and while the Buick Enclave isn’t necessarily a bad SUV and it has gotten some major improvements over the past few years, many of the new models are still uncommon on the used car market. Unless you’re looking to buy one brand new, you’re probably better off with the CX-5.
