The future for the Jeep Cherokee feels uncertain. The last model just rolled off the line at the Belvidere plant, and it will be shut down. So, can we expect a 2024 Jeep Cherokee, or is it being discontinued? Will it be remodeled or replaced? 

Is the Jeep Cherokee being discontinued again? 

The Jeep Cherokee hasn’t been officially discontinued, but the last model just rolled off the line at the Belvidere plant in Illinois. There isn’t an official replacement lined up, as the plant is idle and will be shut down. 

Production of the 2023 Jeep Cherokee is over, so if you like this style, time is running out. The 2024 model might not exist, but it could also be different. But we don’t have a lot of clues to investigate. 

The KL Cherokee came out in 2013 and received updates in 2018. Jeep acknowledges that it needs a replacement. That indicates that it could bite the dust. 

Jeep CEO Christian Meunier shared that the midsize SUV segment is the largest one in the world. The Cherokee is obviously getting smaller in volume and less competitive in an extremely ambitious segment. 

Will there be a 2024 Cherokee? 

It’s possible that there will be a 2024 Jeep Cherokee model. However, it’s unclear where it would be manufactured. If the 2024 Cherokee returns, it will probably have a few updates but no new engine options. 

The 2024 Cherokee could primarily be a carryover model. The 2025 Jeep Cherokee would be the redesigned model to start the next generation. However, the Cherokee might be replaced by a new electric model.

According to Eletrek, we’ve only seen two of the new electric vehicles that Jeep plans to introduce to North America by 2025. We’ve seen the rugged Jeep Recon and the Jeep Wagoneer S, which will enter production by 2024. 

That leaves room for the Cherokee to be replaced by two electric models. The Jeep Cherokee EV could emerge, or it could wear a different badge. We got pretty excited about the Cherokee 4xe, but that no longer seems like an option. 

It’s expected to ride on the STLA platform for large vehicles. It supports electrification and hybrid powertrains. So, the new Cherokee could be larger. 

Jim Morrison, head of Jeep Band North America, said that the new Cherokee will be bigger and better than ever. But that’s all he said. Also, the code name for this project could be KM. It might have a third row, like the Jeep Commander or Grand Cherokee L. 

Can you buy a 2023 Cherokee? 

Yes, the 2023 Jeep Cherokee is available, but the supply is limited. It might be the last affordable Cherokee because rumors suggest that the sixth-generation Cherokee will be luxurious. It could be outfitted like the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. 

The 2023 Cherokee starts at $37,695, which is shocking, but the base model was dropped. The lineup starts with the Latitude Lux trim. It includes premium features such as leather upholstery, a power liftgate, roof rails, LED lights, a digital gauge cluster, keyless entry/ignition, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel.
