People love pickup trucks because of their versatility. Trucks like the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and its rivals have plenty of practical uses to get the job done. For example, a Chevy Silverado 1500 was just used as a battering ram during a protest!

Innocent Chevy Silverado 1500 used as a battering ram during Mexican protests

Pour one out for an innocent single-cab Chevy Silverado 1500 that was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. I have to assume it was totaled or towed for evidence after protesters used it as a battering ram to get through the doors of Mexico’s presidential palace.

The truck was just a hard-working unit. It was part of a fleet for the Mexican state electric company. It’s unclear if the ruck was stolen or if the driver joined the protest.

Either way, the windows were smashed and the rear end was smashed up as the truck was put into neutral and used to slam through massive wooden doors. Based on the photos and videos, even the truck bed looks misaligned.

Protestors gathered in an attempt to force Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. They are protesting the case of 43 missing students from 2014 and while I don’t promote the destruction of innocent trucks, this action did bring attention to the matter.

The scene was broken up by tear gas and a few of the students who broke down the doors were arrested. The doors were later reinforced as the protest returned to a peaceful movement with students camped out across the street.

Andres claimed without evidence that the protestors didn’t want the truth to come out and that the government is still looking for the missing students. He shared that he would speak with parents soon. But if they went missing in 2014, why is the investigation taking so long?

Also, we hope the electric company gets a new truck. A single-cab 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 starts at $36,800, which sounds steep. It comes with the basics such as steel wheels, vinyl upholstery, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen.

Perhaps the truck could have been a useful tool in the investigation. This true crime mystery still needs solving and will probably be featured on all the murder podcasts.
