There have been plenty of lawsuits against trucks for defective transmissions. However, it can be easy to miss the fact that the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado 1500 have the same transmission problems. See what the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado share.

You may have heard about the lawsuit against the Chevy Silverado 1500 for having a defective transmission. But did you know the Ford F-150 transmission lawsuit is extremely similar? That’s because these trucks use the same transmission!

General Motors and Ford cocreated the 10-speed automatic transmission that’s causing headaches for tons of truck owners.

The GM transmission is called the 10L80 transmission and the Ford transmission is referred to as the 10R80.

Both trucks have received numerous complaints about the transmission providing hard shifts, a sudden loss of power, failure to up or downshift, loud clunking sounds, gear slips, and hesitation.

There have been more complaints about the F-150 than the Silverado, but that’s not surprising. The F-150 sells more models and may have more allegedly defective transmissions on the road.

In separate class action lawsuits, the plaintiffs claim that Ford and Chevrolet didn’t do enough to properly correct the issue.

Both automakers have released various technical service bulletins in an attempt to correct the problem. Ford and Chevrolet reportedly share that the transmission problems are normal. However, they make driving F-150 and Silverado feel uncomfortable and unsafe.

Ford and Chevy haven’t issued a recall for these transmissions which were first used in 2017 models. Replacing the transmission in each truck could cost over $3,500.

Usually, the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado 1500 are enemies as owners debate over which truck is better. But it is time for owners to band together in this transmission fight.
