The Nissan Frontier deserves more respect as a reliable and capable truck. It shouldn’t be passed up for the Ford Ranger or Chevy Colorado without getting a chance to show you what it can do. It’s more capable than expected and could be the perfect truck for your needs.

Don’t Pass On the Nissan Frontier

The Nissan Frontier is a hard-working truck with the best value for its price. You can get started in the 2019 model for only about $19k.

To get started in the Chevy Colorado, which is ranked as the worst midsize truck, you need to spend about $23k. Also, the Ford Ranger starts around $24k, so there are significant savings with the Frontier.

However, the Nissan Frontier doesn’t have the best fuel economy. It only gets up to 19 mpg in the city and up to 24 mpg on the highway. But it makes up for its weak fuel economy with power.

Nissan Frontier Power

The Nissan Frontier has two engine options available. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine provides 152 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque.

The 4.0-liter V6 turbocharged engine pumps out 261 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. Depending on which build you choose, the Nissan Frontier can tow between 3,500 to 6,500 lb.

Meanwhile, the Ford Ranger has one 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine option available and can only tow up to 3,500 lb.

Also, the Nissan Frontier has a fair amount of peppy acceleration and can go from 0 to 60 mph in only 7.2 seconds. The Chevy Colorado takes a sluggish 9.2 seconds to reach 60 mph.

For off-roading, the Nissan Frontier is equipped with the right tools and technology to crawl over obstacles.

The active limited brake slip automatically sends more torque to wheels that are slipping to help you power over obstacles. Also, the electronically locking rear differential provides more power so you can keep going.

The Nissan Frontier has Bilstein shocks for a smooth, comfortable ride. Plus, the double-wishbone front suspension and rigid leaf spring rear suspension enhances off-roading power and high load capabilities.

Nissan Frontier Features

The Nissan Frontier has a 7” infotainment center with Bluetooth connectivity.

It generates savings in tech but is still pretty advanced. It may not have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, but it can still connect to your phone to stream your favorite apps.

NissanConnect puts navigation, music, podcasts, social media apps, and more right at your fingertips. Also, voice recognition allows you to go handsfree.

Plus, the Nissan Frontier is safe with a zone body construction to crumble in areas that protect passengers in the cab. Also, the latch system allows you to easily place compatible child seats without having to use seatbelts or a locking clip.

The anti-lock braking system senses when there is more weight in the truck bed and automatically sends more braking power to the rear wheels.

Also, the traction control system and vehicle dynamic control system helps you maintain control of your truck and avoid slipping on ice, mud, snow, and more.
