It’s standard with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which includes safety-centric features like adaptive cruise control, a pre-collision braking system, lane departure and sway warnings, and lane-keep assist. Of course, this year’s model comes outfitted with all of the usual safety features, too, a full suite of airbags included. 

But if those aren’t enough safety features for you? The 2021 Forester also offers several available safety features. Choose from sought after safety features like blind-spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alerts, reverse automatic braking, and even a driver focus distraction mitigation system.

The 2021 Forester also earned ‘Superior’ ratings in the organization’s front crash prevention: vehicle-to-vehicle tests and its front crash prevention: pedestrian-to-vehicle tests. 

And for those with kiddos on board? You’ll be pleased to know that the Subaru Forester earned a ‘Good+’ rating for just how easy it is to use its child seat anchors.

How the NHTSA scored the 2021 Forester

But the 2021 Subaru Forester didn’t just ace the IIHS’ crashworthiness tests. It also managed to ace the NHTSA’s crashworthiness tests. In fact, according to the NHTSA, this year’s new Forester earned a five-star overall safety rating.

The NHTSA reports that the 2021 Forester earned a five-star rating in front driver side and front passenger-side crash tests. It also earned a five-star rating in combined side barrier and pole tests. The Subaru Forester did, however, earn a four-star rollover rating.
