For the past few years, the Ram 1500 has been the leader when it comes to new truck tech. It got the first massive, vertically oriented touchscreen before the Ford F-150 followed in its footsteps. Now the 2022 Ram 1500 has new updates to continue this trend.

The entire lineup of the 2022 Ram 1500 models is gaining the Unconnect 5 infotainment system. Mamatha Chamarthi, head of software business and product management, shared that the competitive advantage of the Unconnect 5 system lies in its ability to align with customer needs using personalizing and unique content for each brand. 

She explained that the features and user experience are tailor-made for Ram trucks and Ram commercial vehicles. It will continue to expand with the digitalization of mobility. By that, she means you can customize the home screen to fit your needs best. 

What can the new Ram 1500 Uconnect 5 system do? 

This allows commercial vehicle owners and private Ram truck owners to add the most essential features to the home screen. Chamarthi said, “Whether you’re towing 37,100 lbs in a Ram 3500 or recreational vehicles with your family, the Unconnect 5 system can be customized to quickly deliver essential information on the cluster screen, center screen, and head-up display (HUD).” 

In your 2022 Ram 1500 commercial vehicle, you can store up to five different user profiles, allowing multiple drivers to store their personal preferences. This benefits fleet managers as each individual driver’s preferences for the cabin temperature, seating position, and music will be saved. 

Plus, the customizable nature will assist someone towing a heavy load up a steep grade keep an eye on the temperature. Plus, the Ram Off-Road pages App, can be quickly accessed on the center screen with one touch. 

The Ram 1500 now features wireless phone charging and will connect to the system wirelessly. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included. The new built-in TomTom-based navigation system includes live traffic updates and other driver-connected services too. 

Over-the-air updates will conveniently provide basic software updates and can run diagnostics. This will reduce the amount of time spent at dealerships for repairs or diagnoses. The new Telematic Box Module (TBM) moves massives amounts of data and is engineered for the fastest speeds available.

The 2022 Ram 1500 doesn’t need a refresh yet. It was just remodeled for 2019. But the lineup is gaining a new sporty G/T package for the Laramie and Rebel, you can also purchase the rugged BackCountry Edition. There is an even more luxurious version of the top trim known as the 10th-anniversary Edition too. 

With the G/T, you get a cold-air intake, a unique exhaust system, a console-mounted shifter, and paddle shifters. The BackCountry Edition includes off-roading upgrades for value-minded Big Hoen and Lone Star models. 

The 10th-anniversary edition adds to the Limited model with luxurious interior upgrades. It’s only available in an exclusive shade of blue paint and includes unique badging. The MSRP for the 2022 Ram 1500 is $33,975.
