Although Dodge is discontinuing its resident muscle car, Ford is making the Mustang for yet another generation. The new S650 2024 Ford Mustang gets carryover engines, a design refresh, and a price bump. That’s right; the new seventh-generation model is the most expensive pony car lineup in the model’s history

How much is a brand-new EcoBoost Mustang?

The new 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost base model starts at $30,920 for the fastback coupe. That represents a $3,150 price increase from the entry-level 2023 Mustang EcoBoost on the S550 platform.

Moreover, the EcoBoost drops the manual transmission option for the seventh-gen ‘Stang. So, fans who want to row their own gears will have to opt for the V8-powered GT or Dark Horse. Still, the EcoBoost packs the familiar turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder engine, although it produces an extra five ponies for a total of 315 horsepower.

What is the Mustang EcoBoost Premium package?

The 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium adds a few posh features to the base model pony car. For instance, the $36,445 EcoBoost Premium trim adds wireless device charging and approach lighting sporting the signature running pony emblem.

Moreover, the Premium trim takes advantage of the S650’s new 13.2-inch curved glass display that blends into its 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster. Still, the Premium gets a price bump just like the base trim, to the tune of $3,650.

Still, fans who want to put the top down will have to stretch to $41,945 for the EcoBoost Premium Convertible. As a result, the new Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium drop-top gets the same $3,650 increase over the 2023 model as the coupe.

How much will the 2024 Mustang GT cost?

Fans rejoice; the Blue Oval brought back the 5.0L Coyote V8 engine for the S650 generation. Moreover, the new 2024 Mustang GT starts at $41,495, a $3,150 increase over the post-facelift S550 GT from 2023.

Still, even with the bigger ask, the new S650 Mustang GT reigns as the most powerful GT ever; it produces 486 horsepower from its Coyote V8 with a performance exhaust option, per Car and Driver. That puts it ahead of even the track-ready Mach 1 from the previous generation.

What is the Premium package on a Mustang GT?

The new Ford Mustang GT Premium gets the same posh upgrades as the EcoBoost Premium. However, it also offers an active valve exhaust system and color-coordinated Brembo brakes. The 2024 GT Premium starts at around $46,015.

Like the EcoBoost Premium, the new Mustang GT Premium offers a convertible option. However, the V8-powered drop-top pony car breaks the $50,000 mark with a starting price of around $51,515. That represents an increase of $2,650 over the previous generation.

What is a Dark Horse Mustang?

The Ford Mustang Dark Horse is the new seventh-generation performance-oriented pony car offering and spiritual successor to the Mach 1. Still, the Dark Horse out-costs the outgoing Mach 1, with a starting price of around $57,970. That’s about $1,400 more than a 2023 Mach 1.

Is the entry-level ‘Stang worth over $30,000? Is the Dark Horse a performance bargain at nearly $60,000? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
