The Volvo XC90 is the long-running midsize SUV from the Swedish automaker and serves as its largest and one of its most popular offerings, with seating for seven or eight passengers. The stylish XC90 is now also available as a plug-in hybrid dubbed the Recharge, but for the sake of this article, we’ll be sticking with the standard model. However, even the non-PHEV version is fitted with a mild hybrid system.

So, how much can car shoppers expect to pay for a new Volvo XC90? From its base level to its top trim, here’s how much a fully loaded 2024 Volvo XC90 costs.

The 2024 Volvo XC90 starts at $57,095

The 2024 Volvo XC90 features minimal updates, but one notable change is the elimination of the “dark theme,” which featured black exterior trim pieces.

The gas-only 2024 Volvo XC90 is available in three trims — Core, Plus, and Ultimate — with prices starting at $57,195, which includes destination charge.

Two powertrains are available for the Core and Plus models. The “B5” powertrain features a 48-volt mild hybrid system that pairs with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, developing 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

The available B6 powertrain uses the same engine and electric motor, but power is increased to 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque for increases of 66 hp and 37 lb-ft, respectively. The XC90 also features all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, no matter the powertrain or trim.

Standard equipment for the XC90 includes 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, roof rails, and a panoramic sunroof. The cabin sports synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a 10-speaker sound system, satellite radio, and four-zone automatic climate control. A portrait-oriented 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is integrated into the dashboard.

A long list of standard safety features and driver aids are highlighted by adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic forward and rear braking, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. A driver attention warning, traffic sign reader, front/rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams are also fitted to all XC90 models.

The XC90 Ultimate tops the range at $70,595

The Ultimate trim, as its name suggests, is the range-topper of the 2024 Volvo XC90 lineup, with prices starting at $70,595 with destination. The Ultimate trim is exclusively available with the more powerful B6 powertrain.

Upgrades include genuine leather upholstery, adjustable side bolsters for the front seats, ventilated and heated front seats, wood interior trim, a crystal gear selector, rear seat sunshades, and a Harman Kardon audio system. The Ultimate model rides on 21-inch wheels and features a head-up display and surround-view camera system.

Options and accessories for the 2024 Volvo XC90

Volvo saves buyers on additional costs for exterior paint or upholstery selections, as all are free. However, there are still ways to tailor your very own XC90.

Perhaps the most significant option for the 2024 Volvo XC90 is to choose between the B5 and B6 powertrains. Upgrading to the more powerful B6 costs $4,900 for Core models and $3,500 for Plus trim.

The Plus and Ultimate models also give buyers a choice of seating configurations. Both models carry seven passengers as standard with a second-row bench seat, but second-row captain’s chairs, which lowers seating capacity to six, can be fitted to the Plus trim for $4,000. The cost shrinks to just $500 for Ultimate models.

Single-inch larger wheels than standard are available for all trims for an additional $800. All models can be fitted with illuminated running boards ($2,400), a retractable trailer hitch ($1,580), or a luggage compartment cover ($345).

The $750 Climate package includes a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and headlamp cleaners for the Core trim.

A Harman Kardon sound system is an $800 option for Plus models. The Lounge Package for the Ultimate model costs $1,700 and includes front-seat massage functions and a Nubuck headliner. The range-topping model can also be fitted with an active air suspension ($1,800) and/or a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system ($3,200).

A fully loaded 2024 Volvo XC90 Ultimate with second-row captain’s chairs, 22-inch wheels, the Lounge Package, air suspension, Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and all available accessories rings in at $80,895 with destination charge.
