The 2023 Volvo XC90 is a midsize luxury crossover that provides drivers with a lot of great features at a relatively reasonable price. As with any other car, the Swedish automaker has many options available, and it’s clear that drivers are buying one trim option more often than others. Here’s a look at the most popular trim that’s available on the 2023 Volvo XC90

The 2023 Volvo XC90 has a handful of trim levels

Edmunds broke down the trim levels that Volvo offers on the XC90, and there are currently three of them. The Core is the base trim, and the Plus is the middle trim. The Ultimate trim is the top trim. On top of that, Volvo offers three powertrain options. All Volvo engines are a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, but the Swedish automaker offers different variations of that engine.

The B5 is the standard option for the XC90, and it’s turbocharged which allows it to get 247 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The B6, meanwhile, is supercharged, and that bumps its output to 295 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Finally, there’s the Recharge T8. It’s a PHEV powertrain, and it gets 455 hp and 523 lb-ft of torque.

In terms of pricing, the B5 Core is the cheapest option as it starts at $57,000. The B5 Plus Bright starts at $61,000, and it adds a few luxury features to the standard XC90.

For example, it gets leather upholstery, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. The B6 Ultimate Bright goes for about $70,000, and it adds even more luxury features to the SUV. It gets a head-up display, premium leather upholstery, a premium sound system, and more.

Overall, there are 10 different trim combinations that Edmunds listed. The most popular option is the B6 Plus Bright. It costs about $64,500, which puts it around the middle in terms of cost. Since this option sits in the middle in terms of pricing, it provides a solid balance of features without forcing car shoppers to spend too much. That may help explain why it’s such a popular trim.

The B5 Plus Bright is almost the same SUV, but the difference between the two is under the hood. The B6 engine is significantly more powerful than the standard engine. It gets about 50 more horsepower and 50 more lb-ft of torque than the standard engine gets. On top of that, Edmunds recommends the B6 engine, and it’s a popular engine option on other Volvo vehicles.

The Plus trim also gets additional tech features, such as a surround-view camera system. When that B6 engine is combined with the additional luxury features that the Plus trim offers, it’s easy to see why it’s an appealing combination.

Overall, the XC90, with this combination of options, becomes a luxurious and sporty SUV. It’s also reasonably priced for many luxury car shoppers, and that helps make it more popular.

This is another good trim for the 2023 Volvo XC90

However, the B6 Plus Bright’s nearly $65,000 price tag may be too much for some car shoppers. The B5 Core, which is the standard trim for the XC90, is what MotorBiscuit recommended. While this trim doesn’t have as many luxury features as the other trims do, it’s still a Volvo SUV.

As such, the Core still comes with a lot of luxury features, such as heated front seats and synthetic leather upholstery. The B5 engine is not as powerful as the B6, but it’s strong enough for daily driving. More importantly though, this trim starts at $57,000, which is great value for a luxury SUV.
