The Mazda CX-5 is 180 inches long, 73 inches wide, and 65 inches tall. The Honda CR-V is 182 inches long, 73 inches wide, and 66-67 inches tall. The CR-V is both longer and taller than the Mazda CX-5. The small SUV models have the same width.

The CX-5’s size is average compared to other small SUVs. That being said, its interior is anything but average.

The small SUV comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine to make 187 horsepower. It achieves 24 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The CX-5 comes in eight different trim levels. Car and Driver recommends the Turbo trim.

The Mazda CX-5 comes standard with all-wheel drive. It also features Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go and side mirrors with LED turn indicators. It also includes push-button start, a remote keyless entry system, and 12-volt power outlets.

The Mazda CX-5 has very few problems, especially in recent years. According to CarComplaints.com, the CX-5 has less than 40 complaints registered for every model year after 2016. The 2020 and 2021 model years had just four complaints each. Consumers can potentially save thousands by purchasing a used Mazda CX-5.

Kelley Blue Book claims that a 2017 CX-5 with under 74,000 miles has a fair purchase price of just $18,504. Since the CX-5 is expected to last for 200,000 miles, the average driver will get plenty of use out of a 2017 model with under 74K miles.

CarComplaints lists daytime running LED light failure, fragile windshields, and a faulty transmission as the most common issues. The 2016 Mazda CX-5 is the most problematic of recent model years.
