Buyers who are looking to get into the world of Jeep at an affordable price have a good option in the 2020 Jeep Renegade. Compared to the year’s most expensive Jeep – the Grand Cherokee comes in at an MSRP of over $50,000 – the list price of the Jeep Renegade looks downright cheap. It’s not the most budget SUV on the road by any means, but it’s a good price point considering all the options it offers and the Jeep brand.

What to know about the new 2020 Jeep Renegade

The Jeep Renegade is a five-seat, subcompact SUV with a standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. If you want to take it up a notch, the Renegade is available with a turbo, 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine. If you’re looking to do some off-roading, choose the Trailhawk trim, which includes emergency braking available.

It has a distinct look with rounded corners and a sporty stance. The Renegade does have the traditional Jeep 5-bar grille, but it has a more curvy look that’s a new spin on the classic Jeep look. Not much has changed since 2019, and some stand out features are the stylish interior, available 4×4 systems, and touchscreen connectivity.

Is the Jeep Renegade budget-friendly?

With an MSRP of $22,620, the 2020 Jeep Renegade should be on your list if you’re looking for a vehicle on the lower end of the pricing scale. Obviously it’s not the cheapest you can get, that title goes to the Chevrolet Spark at $13,220. Compared to other subcompact SUVs, it is actually about average. Prices of SUVs in the class include:

  • The 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport at $22,595
  • The 2020 Fiat X at $24,590
  • The 2020 Ford Ecosport at $20,485
  • The 2020 Mini Cooper Countryman at $28,400
  • The 2020 Toyota C-HR at $21,295

The Jeep Renegade does come with a long list of standard features. Sport is the base model with the $22,620 price tag, and it includes LED brake lights, heated mirrors, a rear spoiler, roof rails, dual-zone air conditioning, remote keyless entry, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, and steering wheel audio controls are just some of the standard features on this compact SUV from Jeep.

The 2020 Jeep Renegade

A review at Cars.com of the 2020 Jeep Renegade liked its on-road stability and suspension. They also were happy that its off-road capability was one of the best in the subcompact SUV category, living up to the Jeep name with Trailhawk capability. Cars enjoyed the standard convenience features as well as the available panoramic moonroof. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather-trimmed seats, and navigation.

The 2020 Jeep Renegade might be a bit too funky looking for Jeep purists, but it has a sporty look that grows on you. It has two available sunroof options, a fully removable tinted roof, or dual sunroofs over both the front and rear passengers. When Car and Driver reviewed the Renegade, they found it painfully slow with bad fuel economy, and they thought it was lacking storage options.

It has excellent safety features and is built on a rigid chassis made of high-strength steel, keeping you safer in a crash. It has seven standard airbags, and available active safety features including forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist.

If you’re looking for an affordable Jeep, the new Renegade is one to look at. The subcompact SUV offers a fun look and a lot of standard features, plenty of safety features, and, of course, the iconic Jeep brand.Â
