If you’re from the United States and haven’t heard of the Ineos Grenadier before, fear not. The off-road luxury SUV has not reached the US market, yet. A London chemical manufacturing company turned itself into an automaker and began working on a two-row SUV. The company’s head of commercial operations in NA says it will find a dealer network partner to sell its vehicle. The Ineos Grenadier is clearly inspired by the Land Rover Defender and could find itself for sale in multiple different brand dealerships. Some were disappointed that it wouldn’t originally be available in the US, but in 2023 that’ll change.

The network of dealers Ineos plans to have in North America will be helpful in maintaining vehicles. Though a unique idea from the automaker may make it easiest for owners to maintain the Grenadier on their own. Ineos will give every owner a digital manual that has 3D computer-aided design renderings of each part of the vehicle. Seeing every part of the vehicle broken down piece by piece should help with identifying problems and finding solutions. Though, it is noted by Edmunds that measurements are not included, likely so people cannot 3D print or make their own parts. Surely aftermarket parts will surface eventually, but the availability in the US might be scarce. We’re not sure if the dealer network selling the Grenadier will be the only place to buy parts. If the other option is overseas shipping, it might be way too expensive.

What is the Ineos Grenadier?

If you haven’t heard of the Ineos Grenadier, it’s likely you’re American or just haven’t read about it yet. The Grenadier is a two-row, five-seat SUV with a ladder-frame chassis. The off-roading capability-focused SUV attempts to capture everything good about other off-roading vehicles. It has the look of a Land Rover Defender and comes with a few interesting features. Pre-wired auxiliary switches mean adding an accessory that would normally take wiring and electrical knowledge is almost plug-and-play. Pathfinder mode is for those who enjoy getting lost away from civilization. For those who travel far into the woods, mountains, or even a desert, this feature is a lifesaver. Pathfinder mode basically leaves a trail behind the vehicle everywhere you go on the GPS. That means when it’s time to turn around and go home, you know exactly how you got there.

It’ll come to the United States with only a BMW-supplied 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. Though there is a diesel engine available across the ocean, it will not be coming to the US market. Ineos plans to pull the pin and throw the Grenadier into the US with a five-year, 60,000-mile warranty.

What other features does it have?

The Ineos Grenadier has permanent 4WD and three locking differentials. It also has rubber flooring covering the interior for easy cleaning, as well as drainage plugs for those moist trips. The Grenadier doesn’t lack luxury just because of its off-road capability. Additionally, it has a 12.3-inch central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Uniquely shaped front seats ensure rear passengers have as much legroom as possible. Three adults can sit comfortably in the back seat while both front seats are occupied.

Though the exact pricing model for the US market is not available, Automotive News took a stab at it. Using competing and similarly equipped vehicles, $75,000 to $120,000 will likely be the range. Starting at $75,000 would put it far above Wranglers and Broncos but under the Mercedes Benz G-Class. It would be very similarly priced to its most obvious inspiration, the Land Rover Defender. Preorders for the Ineos Grenadier in the United States will begin in 2023.
