Charging your new EV at a public charging station is just a part of life! That doesn’t mean it has to be complicated, though. The cost to charge an electric car at 7-Eleven varies from time to day and even from location to location, but there are a few ways to estimate the amount. 7-Eleven has a new charging app called 7Charge that makes it easy to charge a Ford Mustang Mach-E or Chevy Bolt EV and get back on the road.

The cost to charge an electric car at 7-Eleven varies

7-Eleven is a modern gas station, and with that, it has many options for electric car charging. The company has something called 7Charge that helps drivers find electric vehicle chargers in the area. Drivers can download the app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store and locate nearby chargers.

The 7Charge app has important information like the charger type, charging capacity, and pricing information. Charging an electric car at 7-Eleven in Florida costs $0.35 per kWh (kilowatt hours) and $1 per minute for idle parking after a 15-minute grace period. In this case, there are two CCS chargers available.

Some chargers in Texas have higher fees but have more chargers. The CCS charger is a 90kW charger priced at $0.55 per kWh. This location also has CHAdeMO chargers available at $0.55 per kWh. Most of the time, electric vehicle chargers will pay between $10 and $30 for a charging session.

Electric car charging at 7-Eleven is expanding rapidly. The company explains that it is currently working on installing the 7Charge Network at many stations throughout North America. 7-Eleven chargers are located in convenient travel-heavy areas at stores open 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Drivers can pay with the 7Charge app or a credit card to make it easier.

Electric cars compatible with common CHAdeMO or Combined Charging System (CCS) plug type will be able to charge. Tesla vehicles with a DC-FC fast-charging adapter can also plug in.

Another way to find information about electric car charging at 7-Eleven is by checking the PlugShare map. For instance, one store in Florida is under construction but isn’t open for charging. According to comments from last year, one in New York is under repair and has been for a while. However, many open and functioning charging stations already exist, mostly in Florida, Colorado, and Texas.

How long does it take to charge?

A public charging station like the ones at 7-Eleven is meant to quickly get you back on the road. How fast your electric vehicle charges depends on factors such as the car’s battery pack, how fast the charging station can charge at, and even the temperature outside. Most stations will have an EV charged and back on the road within an hour. Newer cars and newer charging stations charge at faster speeds, but many factors can impact charging rates.

The cost to charge an electric car at 7-Eleven is likely under $30, and you probably won’t spend more than an hour charging. After all, charging is supposed to be convenient and quickly get you back on the road. Keep an eye out on the 7Charge app or PlugShare to see if any charging stations pop up in your area.
