Demand for the Ford Maverick hasn’t come close to calming down. However, that doesn’t mean Ford isn’t making things even more enticing with new trim levels and special editions. The Ford Maverick Lobo could be the street racing model fans have been waiting for.

What is the Ford Maverick Lobo?

The Ford Maverick Lobo could be the performance truck that’s ready to race. Things are still in the early stages, as Ford recently got the trademark application for Lobo accepted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on August 18, 2023

Ford has been using ‘Lobo’ to market the Ford F-150 in Mexico for years. The Spanish word translates to Wolf in English and helps attract younger clients. In Mexico, the F-150 Lobo is the entry-level XL model.

This is the first time the Lobo title will be used in America. It could be paired with multiple trucks as rumors of the much larger Ford F-150 Lobo gain traction.

During the past couple of years, since the Maverick debuted, people have been obsessed with the idea of a street performance model. Teasers about the Maverick ST never disappeared, and the Maverick Lobo could finally be the answer.

What to expect with the Maverick Lobo

If the Ford Maverick Lobo matches the Ford F-150 Lobo, then clues indicate that these models won’t be the affordable base trims. Instead, they will have racing upgrades, including a lowered suspension.

Like a wolf, the Maverick Lobo is expected to look mean and confident. Reportedly, the new style will be sinister and aggressive. The Ford F-150 Raptor R is pretty aggressive, but we wouldn’t call it sinister.

Also, the Lobo is expected to be a trim level, like the Raptor or Rattler, instead of just an appearance package.

Other racing upgrades may include a wider grille, an enhanced radiator, a double exhaust, aerodynamic fender flares, wider tires, and more power

The gas-powered engine is the most powerful Maverick option at the moment. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine cranks out 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. With the Maverick Hybrid, you get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 191 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque.

The Maverick can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in roughly 6.5 seconds. This is a great start, but the little street truck will hopefully pack a stronger punch.

How much will the Maverick Lobo cost?

Pricing information for the potential Ford Maverick Lobo hasn’t been released. The 2024 Maverick starts at $23,400, and the Lariat takes the price up to $34,885. The Maverick Lobo could be a little more than the Lariat due to high-performance upgrades.

The Maverick Tremor package can be added for $3,495. Also, don’t forget about the $1,595 destination fee.

We hope to see the Maverick Lobo debut in 2024, but it could take longer. The 2024 model year has already been released, but there’s still time for exciting new variants as we inch closer to auto-show season.

Last year, Ford trademarked ‘Flash’ and ‘Thunder,’ but nothing has happened with those names yet. Stay tuned for updates as we track Lobo’s progress.
