America loves a good pickup truck. Even though compact SUVs are more popular than trucks in America, the Ford F-150 remains one of the best-selling vehicles. The Ram 1500 is considered to be more refined, but the F-150 is America’s favorite work truck. The F-150 Lightning has the potential to be America’s favorite electric vehicle, and all signs point to the F-150 Lightning dominating the competition.

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning was completely sold out before production had even begun. The popular Mustang Mach-E is arguably just as exciting, but the Blue Oval sold more F-150 Lightning units in a shorter amount of time.

Americans are excited about an electric F-150, and they should be. Ford filled 200,000 reservations in what may be record time. The demand for the F-150 Lightning is overwhelming. The industry hasn’t seen anything like this since the Ford Bronco.

Ford has taken steps to kill the F-150 Lightning resale market and avoid resellers price gouging as they did with the Bronco. Ford is having F-150 Lightning buyers sign contracts agreeing not to resell their electric trucks for at least a year. This will give the automaker enough time to produce the next round of Lightning models. If you haven’t reserved an F-150 Lightning already, the chances of you getting one this year are very slim.

Even the F-150 Lightning Platinum trim level is sold out. The Lightning Platinum has a starting price of $90,874. America is clearly going crazy over the F-150 Lightning. Even the most expensive models are in high demand.

The F-150 Lighting is shockingly practical

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning takes utility to the next level. From its Mega Power Frunk to the powerpoints in its truck bed, the Lightning is practically a tool.

This electric pickup truck is perfect for worksites, cookouts, live performances, you name it. Ford has showcased its utility by creating an entire YouTube miniseries focused on the F-150 Lightning’s frunk.

The electric F-150 can even power homes during blackouts for days. InsideEVs claims that the electric pickup truck can charge other electric vehicles. Ford CEO Jim Farley joked that the F-150 Lightning could charge Teslas. The Ford F-150 Lightning could become the most popular electric vehicle in America.

The electric pickup is affordable, practical, and built tough enough to stand among legendary Blue Oval nameplates. The Lightning is truly worthy of the F-150 name.
