When buying a new car, few things matter as much as reliability. Buying a new car is an investment. The investment is only as good as the value of owning the car. Take the Toyota Tacoma, for instance. 20-year-old models are still selling for close to what people paid for them new. Seeing that they aren’t rare, the only reason for that value retention is reliability.

The 2022 Lexus GX is the most reliable new car

Although Lexus is a Toyota brand, it still feels strange to see the Lexus GX at number one instead of the Tacoma or somesuch. The Lexus GX isn’t far off, but still. No matter which you cut it, J.D. Power named the 2022 Lexus GX the most reliable SUV on the market. Not only is it the most reliable SUV, but it is also more reliable than any other vehicle, period.

How reliable is the 2022 Kia Niro electric?

The 2022 Kia Niro Electric crossover did quite well on Consumer Reports on reliability for this model year. It’s nice to see not only a Kia on the list but an electric one, no less.

The Kia Niro EV isn’t just reliable; it scored beautifully across the board. CR named it the highest-ranked electric vehicle.

The Toyota Prius Prime is better than we want it to be

That’s right. The 2022 Toyota Prius Prime is still a well-made reliable car. Look, at risk of violating my journalistic integrity; there isn’t anything about the Toyota Prius Prime to love except the facts. The Prius Prime adds the plug-in hybrid feature to what is already the most popular hybrid made to date.

There’s not much to love except the Prius Prime’s exceptional fuel efficiency, affordability, and steadfast reliability. Ok, that’s actually kind of a lot to love. Be that as it may, the Toyota Prius Prime is undeniably good at being an efficient and sturdy ride.

Really, another Toyota Prius?

No, we haven’t made a mistake. Positions three and four are both held by the Toyota Prius. While one of the most reliable cars on Consumer Reports is the Prius Prime, right below it is the regular 2022 Toyota Prius. No one said you have to like it, but the Toyota Prius is an extremely solid platform.

The 2022 Cadillac XT5 is shockingly reliable

You really don’t expect to see an American car on the most reliable cars list. As strange as it might be, Consumer Reports named the 2022 Cadillac XT5 among the most reliable vehicles it’s tested.

I’m not sure if it’s the fact that Cadillac is an American brand or that it’s a luxury brand, but no part of the Cadillac branding supports the idea that they make reliable cars. It’s simply not a part of the ethos. Luxury companies are kind of that way, in general. Regardless of how it hits us, between Consumer Reports’ and J.d> Power’s testing and research, the XT5 is a reliable car – more reliable than most, in fact.

Is reliability the most important aspect of a car?

Reliability is somewhat relative. If you are looking for a weekend toy or just a hobby car, reliability may not matter to you. Hell, get that Jaguar and have at it. However, reliability is likely far more important if you need a daily driver or something to cart around a family.

Whenever you being a car shopping journey, don’t forget to research as much as possible. Finding a reliable car will certainly pay off in the long run.
