A few popular vehicles are starting to come off three-year leases. There could be an influx of affordable used Toyota RAV4 vehicles available, but not every model year is created equally. Let’s see how the 2021 Toyota RAV4 is holding up.

Is the 2021 Toyota RAV4 a good SUV?

Yes, overall the 2021 Toyota RAV4 is spacious, practical, and comfortable. But it could be a little more athletic and refined. It’s part of the fifth generation that launched in 2019, so it’s fresh and modern.

A few updates that occurred after 2021 include the addition of more rugged trims for off-roading and a larger touchscreen. It still has the same standard gas powertrain.

The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine provides 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is available.

When properly equipped, the 2021 RAV$ can tow up to 3,500 lbs. Without AWD, it can tow up to 1,500 lbs.

Also, the 2021 RAV4 has a reliability rating of 81 out of 100 from J.D.Power. So. it’s holding up pretty well. This is an above-average score.

Scores between 70 and 80 are average, anything between 81 and 90 is above average or great, and anything between 91 and 100 is best.

The average RAV4 model is expected to last between 200,000 to 250,000 miles. But with proper care and regular maintenance, it can surpass 300,000 miles. Be sure to review the vehicle’s history before making a purchase.

If you drive about 15,000 miles per year then your RAV4 could provide about 16 years of service on the road.

It costs about $429 to maintain the 2021 RAV4 annually. This is excellent as new SUVs have an annual maintenance cost of about $650.

Also, the RAV4 will depreciate by about 21% after five years of ownership to maintain a resale value of roughly $27,757. This is based on the purchase price of $35,135 when new. Also, this release value represents a model with low mileage and excellent quality.

Going for the 2021 Toyota RAV4 could be a solid decision for a reliable SUV that maintains its value. Both options like the Mazda CX-5 are more comfortable.
