The BMW X5 is the fifth out of 10 entries in an iSeeCars.com study that analyzed the highest depreciation rates. The X5 is one of four BMW models on the list, and that’s extremely worrisome for potential buyers. Most new vehicles depreciate as soon as they roll off of the car lot, but some vehicles depreciate quicker than others.

The study found that the average new vehicle loses 40% of its total value after five years of ownership. The BMW X5 loses 60.3% of its total value on average after five years. This equates to an average of a $41,950 loss of value. The BMW X5 currently starts at $59,400.

The BMW X5’s high depreciation makes it a poor choice for consumers looking to sell or trade in their SUV after some use. The X5’s high starting price makes it even less desirable when considering how quickly it depreciates.
