Another Ford Launch Disaster: Mustang Mach-E Delivery Delays

It just keeps happening over and over and over. The habitual, disastrous launches of new vehicles by Ford. It just can’t seem to get it right. We saw it with the new 2019 Explorer, the 2021 F-150, and the two, separate recalls last week for the Bronco Sport. It just seems like Ford is destined to have the new car cloud over every single launch. Now it is happening with its Mustang Mach-E. It’s just one more Ford launch disaster.

But this time Ford has acknowledged it and is offering prizes. Yes, just like some twisted game show it is offering consolation prizes for those who ordered Mach-E Mustangs and were given a delivery date that has come and gone. Ford wants their patience and knows their frustrations. That’s because it has faced this same problem with thousands of customers over the last couple of years.

Ford is offering a “$1,000 private offer” for Mach-E customers

So now through the mail, it is offering a “$1,000 private offer.” OOwww, what could that be? It doesn’t say. It is however also offering up 250 kWh of complimentary fast charging. That’s right, Ford will juice you up with 250 kWh of free electricity to offset however long you must wait past the date it promised your car at. Plus that “offer.”

This “offer” has come to light through the Mach-E Club forum. Numerous club members have received the notice so far. However, some have said they received the apology sans the mysterious offer. So are some customers facing a long wait while others won’t?

Here’s what Ford says in the notice, “Thank you for putting your trust in Ford Motor Company and for taking the first step toward an electrified future, with the order of your Mustang Mach-E. We are all so excited to have you as a customer and believe you deserve an excellent shopping and ownership experience.

“Your vehicle timing was impacted by more than one of these quality checks”

“This is why we want to take a moment to update you on some of the challenges we’ve faced in meeting demand and delivery timing for the Mustang Mach-E. We continue to build and ship vehicles every day, but we’re doing so with meticulous attention to detail and dedication to quality. Your vehicle timing was impacted by more than one of these quality checks.

“We know you are anxious to get driving and experience the 0-60 thrills, zero emissions, and more from the Mustang Mach-E. Because we believe that customers should be treated like family, we are providing you a $1000 private offer on your Mustang Mach-E at the time of delivery at your Ford dealership. Your dealer is aware of this unique offer. If you have already taken delivery, you can contact Ford at the number listed below to claim this offer. We are also providing you an additional 250 kWh of complimentary DC fast charging on us. Your Mustang Mach-E comes with 250 kWh and you will have an additional 250 kWh for a total of 500 kWh of complimentary charging at Electrify America fast-charging stations on the FordPass Charging Network2.

“Once enrolled, your complimentary charging will show up in your account”

“Please download the FordPass App3, activate your vehicle’s modem, and also go online to www.ford.com/connectedservices to activate your two years of complimentary access to the FordPass Charging Network and 500 kWh of fast charging. Once enrolled, your complimentary charging will show up in your account.”

So there it is. What do you think? We wonder what the offer is? A free car cover? Maybe a free voucher for service at a Ford dealer near you? We don’t know. What we do know is that Ford either has to factor in an additional couple of months to make sure its next new launch is a real launch and not a launch/recall or launch/offer. C’mon Ford, you’re better than this. Or are you?
