Glenn Howerton is a Hollywood actor, celebrity, and filmmaker, known for several iconic roles. You might recognize him from his IMDb profile most for his role as Dennis Reynolds in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He’s also starred in a host of television shows, including The Fugitive (2020,) The Mindy Project (2013-2017,) and The House of Lies (2016). Like many celebrities, Howerton used his earnings to buy himself a new Tesla Model X.

Howerton heads up the podcast series, The Always Sunny Podcast. He recently shared his maddening experience involving his Tesla Model X and becoming stranded. It wasn’t range related, although Howerton’s story was beyond frustrating and serves as a cautionary tale to other Tesla Model X owners and handling parking garages.

That one time, Howerton got a Model X stuck in a parking garage for two days

Jalopnik recapped this episode of the podcast when Howerton told his beyond-frustrating story. He had parked his Tesla Model X in the parking garage but realized, upon attempting to leave, that his car wouldn’t start. The garage was so far underground that his EV wouldn’t connect to Wi-Fi. Because he was stranded without a signal, he couldn’t access the Tesla app either. Howerton said, “it sent me into a rage.”

Howerton ended up taking an Uber home, leaving his Model X in the garage. He returned the next day, spending more than 20 minutes trying to get the fob to connect without success. He had to walk up to the ground level to call for help from AAA. But even trying to put his Tesla into tow mode wouldn’t work, all rooted in a lack of signal. It’s a lesson learned for Howerton, who won’t be parking below ground level anytime soon. But it also serves as a warning to other Tesla owners to be mindful of having a strong Wi-Fi signal.

Tesla Model X specs

Don’t let range anxiety or Wi-Fi connectivity deter you from buying a Tesla Model X. There is a lot to love with these EVs, including six years of production under its belt. The styling is impressive, even before the falcon-wing doors open.

For most industry critics, this electric SUV is still unmatched, with the Model X Plaid’s three electric motors and 1,020 hp. It can also go from 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds, according to Edmunds. As EVs go, the Model X posts big range capability also, at almost 350 miles on a full charge.

Additionally, the Tesla Model X seats up to seven passengers and has AWD capability regardless of the trim. And Tesla vehicles are compatible with over-the-air updates, adding new features as the automaker rolls them out throughout the year.

Enjoy a 17-inch infotainment screen, a 22-speaker sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and heated and ventilated seats. Buying a 2022 Model X will cost anywhere between $120,990 and $138,990.

Let the star of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s story be a cautionary tale. You’ll be more than impressed with your Tesla Model X, that is, until you park so far underground that you can’t get a Wi-Fi signal to access and start the vehicle.
