An upscale interior is not enough to win a Wards Interiors & UX award. Vehicles must go above and beyond in comfort and show innovation. That can be done through ambient lighting, electric-powered doors that open and close on demand, eye-popping graphics, high-resolution screens, and high-quality seating that is comfortable and attractive. 

Wards judges used all nominated vehicles as daily drivers for a year before choosing the best. There were 21 nominees and 10 winners.

The nominees that weren’t selected to be in the top 10 are the Acura Integra, Bentley Bentayga, Chevy Trax, Honda CR-V Hybrid, Lexus RX 500h, Mazda CX-50, Mercedes EQB, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Toyota Prius, Volvo C40, and Volkswagen Arteon.

The BMW i7, Cadillac Lyriq, Ford F-150 Lightning, Genesis GV60, GMC Hummer, Hyundai Palisade, Jeep Wagoneer L, Kia Sportage Hybrid, Land Rover Range Rover, and Nissan Ariya won for their outstanding interiors.

A major part of the 2023 F-150 Lightning’s win is Ford’s innovation and attention to detail. Several features make this truck user-friendly, helping its interior stand out:

  • Advanced technology

Truck cabs aren’t always known for their passenger space, but the Ford F-150 Lightning is roomy. All riders have ample room to stretch. The F-150 Lightning seats up to five, and even tall occupants will have plenty of legroom and legroom.

In addition to passenger space, this truck has ample storage capacity beyond the bed. For instance, under-seat areas can hold smaller items and gear. And users can store belongings in the generous frunk.

Furthermore, the F-150 Lightning abounds with power outlets. It boasts four 120-volt outlets and two USB outlets to keep electronics charged.

Ford also offers cloud-based connectivity with voice recognition. Features include built-in navigation and traffic and weather updates.

Last, the F-150 Lightning has many advanced tech features. Through the truck’s optional 15.5-inch touchscreen, users can access amenities like towing modes, camera views, and advanced driver-assistance systems.

Other attractive features of the 2023 truck

One significant draw for consumers is that the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is electric. The standard battery gets an EPA-estimated 240 miles. A larger battery pack boasts 320 miles on a full charge.

In addition, the F-150 Lightning can tow an impressive 10,000 pounds. However, models equipped with that capacity have a shorter electric range.

If there’s one negative about the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning, it’s the MSRP. The starting price for the base model is nearly $58,000, and the range-topping Platinum trim starts at just under $100,000.
