The 2023 Ford Mustang GT’s 450-horsepower V8 and 10-speed automatic transmission make for a launch-happy muscle car. However, the Mustang GT isn’t the fastest name in the performance car market. Check out four new vehicles that will outrun a 2023 Ford Mustang GT, like the BMW M240i xDrive, Volkswagen Golf R, and Chevrolet Camaro 2SS.

Which cars are faster than the 2023 Ford Mustang GT?

A 10-speed automatic-equipped 2023 Ford Mustang GT will sprint to 60 mph in around 4.0 seconds. While that is properly quick, it’s not enough to out-dash these four models. Better yet, for fans who want something in a non-V8 flavor, the Volkswagen Golf R and BMW M240i xDrive do more with fewer cylinders. Moreover, the all-electric, range-topping Tesla Model 3 Performance will shoot to 60 mph much quicker than a V8-powered Mustang.

How fast is the Volkswagen Golf R?

The 2023 Volkswagen Golf R will smash a run to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds on its way to a 12.5-second quarter mile. The five-seater hatchback’s ferocious speed is courtesy of a 315-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, grippy all-wheel drive (AWD), and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Is a Camaro 2SS faster than a Mustang GT?

Despite being closely comparable to the 2023 Ford Mustang GT, the Chevrolet Camaro 2SS is quicker and more powerful. Specifically, the Camaro 2SS produces 455 horsepower from its naturally-aspirated 6.2L V8, five more than the new Mustang. Moreover, the Camaro will hit 60 mph in around 3.9 seconds.

Is the BMW M240i fast?

The 2023 BMW M240i xDrive uses a turbocharged 3.0L B58 inline six-cylinder engine and launch-happy AWD to outsprint a Ford Mustang GT and its sibling, the Z4. Specifically, the M240i xDrive will hit 60 mph in a blistering 3.6 seconds, per Car and Driver.

What is the difference between the Model 3 and Model 3 Performance?

The standard 2023 Tesla Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive rides on a 211-kW motor system, while the Model 3 Performance sends power to all four wheels via a dual-motor, 340-kW application. As a result, the Performance trim will hit 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds on its way to an 11.6-second quarter mile.

What other cars will outrun a 2023 Ford Mustang GT?

Like the BMW M240i xDrive, the 2023 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 uses the same turbocharged 3.0L BMW-derived six-cylinder engine. As a result, the Supra 3.0 will outrun the Mustang GT to 60 mph by around 0.2 seconds.
