As luxury sedans go, the entry-level models tend to lag behind their more expensive siblings. However, the Genesis G70 offers several upscale touches despite its little brother status. There are several reasons to love the G70, but these are a few of our favorites.

3.3-liter Turbo V6

The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged engine provides plenty of punch in the new Genesis G70. But as a rival to the BMW M340i and Mercedes-AMG CLA, the G70 has the 3.3-liter Turbocharged V6 up its sleeve. WIth this powerplant, the G70 delivers a thrilling 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough to take it from zero to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds in MotorTrend testing. That puts it 1.5 seconds ahead of its four-cylinder sibling, cementing its place as a high-performance option.

However, the performance options don’t end there. Buried in the options list are Brembo performance brakes and adaptive sport suspension. Together with the added performance of the V6 Turbo, and the G70 is a legitimate sleeper luxury car.

Remote climate control settings

Of course, comfort is no surprise once you get behind the wheel of the G70. However, the Genesis remote app allows for climate controls before going for a drive. By pulling up the app, remote engine start is presented as the first option. However, once the car is switched on, you can also adjust the climate control settings before getting in for a drive.

It’s perfect for cooling the cabin after a cool night, where last night’s warmer settings aren’t ideal for the warmer conditions of the day. And while there may not be many instances where you’ll need this feature, it’s a nice touch that isn’t often found in entry-level luxury cars.

Lateral seat support adjustment

The 16-way power-adjustable seats in the Genesis G70 are a revelation. Offering impressive support for a variety of body types, they offer near-infinite customization to set up the seat exactly as you need it. Even better, though, changing the drive mode can also change the seat settings.

By putting the G70 in Sport mode, the side bolsters will tighten up to better hold the driver in place around corners. It’s a subtle change, but one that is both welcome and surprising. In a car with such sprightly handling, it’s nice that the seats react to improve comfort while attacking the corners.

Couple that with the heated and ventilated seats, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more comfortable seat at this price point.

Great, not perfect

For all the great points and unique features in the Genesis G70, it isn’t all roses. The lack of a true digital instrument cluster is unusual for the segment at this point. And the small central infotainment display feels like an inefficient use of space when compared to better-integrated models.

Overall though, the G70 is a joy to drive and a refreshing entry into a segment that has become increasingly stale over the years.
