Ford is producing two of the most impactful electric vehicles on the market: the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Mustang Mach-E. The Blue Oval’s electric vehicles have been hitting big sales numbers. Ford is positioned to be a major player in the EV space. Still, it hasn’t all been sunshine and rainbows for the Mach-E nameplate. The Mustang Mach-E has dealt with plenty of issues in the few years that it has been around. In fact, some could argue that it has already fallen from grace. Here are three reasons why the Ford Mustang Mach-E could still shock rivals.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is a shockingly affordable small electric SUV

Electric vehicles are many things, but they’re not always affordable. Sometimes, EVs can cost a pretty penny. One of the Mustang Mach-E’s many strengths is its affordability. Its affordable starting price helps make it a rival to models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.

The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E starts at $42,995. It uses an electric motor to make 266 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. The small electric SUV can travel an estimated 250 miles on a full charge. That’s decent driving range for such an affordable EV.

The Mach-E’s starting price and value proposition are keeping it in the game. Its Select base model has great specs, and the nameplate has the potential to make an amazing first electric vehicle in terms of power, driving range, and cabin materials.

Mustang Mach-Es have awesome standard features

Another reason why the Mustang Mach-E can still shock rivals is because of its great standard features. It comes standard with features that are often reserved for luxury vehicles.

The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E features standard heated side mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a wireless charging pad. Additionally, it has Ford’s Phone as a Key feature, a soft vinyl-wrapped steering wheel, and one pedal driving.

Ford’s popular small electric SUV has great standard creature comforts and tech features. Furthermore, upper-trim level models are even more luxurious and advanced.

Ford makes competitive Mustang Mach-E trims

Ford produces four Mustang Mach-E configurations: the Select, the Premium, the California Route 1, and the GT. The Select and Premium models provide decent value for the money, but the Premium and California Route 1 models boast the most impressive specs by far.

The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 gets an incredible 312 miles of driving range. That’s 62 more miles of driving range than the Select and Premium configurations. Today, most popular electric vehicles have between 200-250 miles of standard driving range.

Ford’s most impressive Mustang Mach-E trim is the Mustang Mach-E GT. It makes 480 horsepower and a massive 600 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, the Mustang Mach-E GT goes from 0-60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds. It’s one of the quickest EVs on the market.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E has some stiff competition from rivals like the Tesla Model Y, Kia EV6, and Hyundai Ioniq 5. It may not be getting as much press coverage as when it first hit the scene, but the Mach-E still has plenty to offer for the money. Reliability issues have caused some critics to dismiss the exciting EV. A comeback could be on the horizon.
