Off-road pickup trucks are extremely popular, both for their capability and rugged looks. Even for those who do not intend to take their truck into 4×4 situations, these models still sell well. From Ford to Nissan, most pickup manufacturers build an off-road truck of some kind. And according to Kelley Blue Book, these ones might be the best.

3. 2022 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X

The off-road variant of the Nissan Frontier has long been known as the PRO-4X. This trim adds a range of off-road goodies as well as an aggressive design. For the 2022 model, Nissan finally updated its mid-size truck, and the results make the wait feel worth it.

The 2022 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X comes with Bilstein shocks, skid plates, electronic locking rear differentials, and off-road gauges. Another perk of this mid-size pickup is its standard V6 engine. Each Frontier comes with a 3.8-liter V6 that makes 310 horsepower, and that includes the PRO-4X model.

In terms of cost, the Frontier PRO-4X starts at $38,720. That is certainly more expensive than the base model, but for what you get, it might be justified to some.

2. 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor

Ford has a huge budget for its full-size truck. Simply put, the Blue Oval puts a lot of money into the F-150 because it is one of its best sellers. The 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor is one of the most capable variants of this pickup; just know that it does not come cheap.

Under the hood of the F-150 Raptor lies a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6. It makes 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. So not only is this truck off-road ready, it is also legitimately powerful. And it does not stop there. Ford has added FOX Live Valve internal bypass shocks, a 5-link rear suspension, and other features to help with off-road use.

If the regular F-150 Raptor is not enough for you, Ford has plans to release a truck that sits above it. The F-150 Raptor R is coming, and it is set to have 700 hp. And that is an absolutely insane number for a pickup truck.

1. 2022 Ram 1500 TRX

While the Ford F-150 Raptor has been around for a while, Ram finally produced its answer to a full-size truck with performance and off-road capability. The Ram TRX is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that makes 702 hp.

This off-road truck comes with 11.6 inches of ground clearance, an electronic locking rear differential, a Bilstein suspension system, and even launch control. All of these things come together to make the Ram TRX a beast of a vehicle. According to Kelley Blue Book, it does have a starting MSRP of above $71,690.

That does make the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX an expensive pickup truck. But, if you want one of the most capable Rams out there, it is not going to come cheap. Production is also fairly limited, so finding one might not be the easiest task.
