If Honda wants the new 2024 Prologue EV to be successful, they need to take a few pages out of the Genesis GV60 book. The GV60 is the first all-electric Genesis, starting in 2022. The new 2024 Honda Prologue is the first electric SUV from the Honda brand. If the Prologue is to be successful, it should follow the GV60’s well-worn path of continuous growth month after month since the first Genesis EV appeared.

The Prologue electric SUV is the result of the partnership between Honda and General Motors. This new Honda EV rides on the useful and versatile GM Ultium platform, which underpins the GMC Hummer EV, and upcoming Chevy Equinox EV and Blazer EV SUVs.

Although this new Honda rides on the Ultium platform, it’s been fully designed by Honda to provide branded features and qualities. When this new Honda EV arrives, it will have three trims: EX, Touring, and Elite. The lower two trims use a standard single-motor FWD layout with the dual-motor AWD system offered as an upgrade. The AWD model rides on the dual-motor AWD system, producing 288 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque.

The Prologue’s 85-kWh lithium-ion battery pack should give this electric SUV up to 300 miles of driving range on a single full charge. Using a DC fast-charging system, the 2024 Honda Prologue EV can add up to 65 miles of range in 10 minutes at 155 kW.

The GV60 is a luxury crossover that paved the path to success in this class. Good Car Bad Car tells us that this Genesis has shown continued sales growth since it arrived in 2022. Genesis built the GV60 on the E-GMP platform and offers it with two configurations. The base setup offers an RWD setup using one electric motor. Should the new 2024 Honda Prologue EV switch from an FWD to an RWD layout for the lower two trims?

Once inside the cabin, the GV60 provides passengers with a spacious and luxurious cabin with seating for up to five people. This SUV has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Additionally, this Genesis electric SUV has:

  • A panoramic sunroof
  • Bang & Olufsen audio system
  • Head-up display
  • Full safety package

Where does the GV60 rank among luxury electric SUVs?

The 2023 version of the GV60 is ranked third out of 17 luxury electric SUVs by U.S. News & World Report. The pros and cons from U.S. News are:

Pros

  • Potent acceleration
  • Lots of standard features
  • Balanced ride and handling
  • Intuitive infotainment system
