2024 Toyota GR Supra 2.0 powertrain specs

For comparison, Toyota lists the following powertrain specs for the base 2024 GR Supra 2.0:

• 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine
• Premium fuel required
• 255 horsepower at 5,000 to 6,500 rpm
• 295 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 to 4,400 rpm
• Eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters
• 3.15:1 gear ratio open differential rear axle 
• 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 5.0 seconds

Given the Mustang’s higher horsepower and torque ratings, you’re probably tempted to stop here. However, you should know that the GR Supra only weighs 3,181 pounds compared to the Mustang EcoBoost Fastback’s 3,579 pounds, resulting in similar 0 to 60-mph acceleration times. 

2024 Ford Mustang vs. Toyota GR Supra: Fuel economy

The 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Fastback gets an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway for a combined rating of 26 mpg using regular-grade gasoline. The Mustang’s 16-gallon fuel capacity translates into 352 miles of city driving range, up to 528 miles on the highway, and 416 combined. 

The 2024 Toyota GR Supra gets EPA-estimated ratings of 25 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined. The 2024 GR Supra has a 13.7-gallon fuel tank that provides driving ranges of up to 343 miles in the city, 425 miles on the highway, and 370 miles combined. 

2024 Ford Mustang vs. Toyota GR Supra: Seating and cargo capacity

With similar numbers so far, the Mustang’s ability to carry four adults compared to the Supra’s two-seat capacity might tip the scales in favor of one or the other, depending on your preference. The Mustang’s larger passenger space provides 82.8 cubic feet, while the Supra has 50.9 cubic feet of passenger volume, but both vehicles offer enough comfort for daily driving. The Mustang has 13.5 cubic feet of cargo volume compared to the Supra’s 10.2 cubic feet.

Ford lists the base MSRP for the 2024 Mustang EcoBoost Fastback at $30,920 before tax, title, and other fees, leading us to the most significant difference other than seating capacity. The 2024 Toyota GR Supra 2.0 has a starting MSRP of $45,540 before taxes and fees. 

Is the Mustang EcoBoost Fastback better than the GR Supra 2.0? 

Given the similar specs between the two, the lower-priced Mustang is the easy choice unless you’re a diehard Supra fan, where driving style and feel reign supreme with its cockpit and coupe styling.
