Are fewer stops at the gas station important? Then the Chevrolet Colorado could have an advantage to consider. The 2024 Chevy Colorado is currently the mid-size truck with the best range in its class. 

How many MPG does the 2024 Chevy Colorado get? 

The 2024 Chevy Colorado gets an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city and up to 24 mpg on the highway. This is when equipped with two-wheel drive and it has an annual estimated fuel cost of $2,250

Adding 4×4 reduces these figures to about 18 mpg in the city and up to 22 mpg on the highway with an annual fuel cost of $2,450. 

The thirstiest model in the lineup is the Colorado ZR2 Bison, which gets an EPA-estimated 16 mpg in the city and 16 mpg on the highway. It has an annual estimated fuel cost of $3,050. 

If driven with the best fuel-saving practices, the Colorado can reach a range of up to 480 miles on a single tank of gas. It’s the gas-powered mid-size truck with the best range in its class.

Hybrid and electric trucks weren’t included in this comparison because some people aren’t ready to make the switch. Also, the EPA figures for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid haven’t been released yet. 

The Ford Maverick Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 33 mpg on the highway and up to 42 mpg in the city. It has a range of 511 miles between fill-ups and an estimated fuel cost of $1,350. 

That’s only 31 extra miles compared to the Colorado. Plus, the Maverick Hybrid can’t be equipped with AWD and only tows up to 2,000 lbs while the Colorado can tow up to 7,700 lbs.

Also, the Rivan R1T has an electric range of up to 400 miles. It can tow up to 11,000 lbs, but pulling a trailer may impact the electric range more than it would impact the Colorado’s gas range. 

The 2024 Colorado starts with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 237 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Upgrade to the High Output variant for 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque.
