The 2024 Chevy Colorado starts with a standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 237 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The base engine is called the Turbo and it comes with the WT and LT trims.

This engine has two output levels. Higher trim levels like the Trail Boss, Z71, ZR2, and Bison, get the TurboMax engine variant. It’s tuned up to deliver 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque.

If you want the WT or LT trim with more power, it only costs $1,050 to upgrade. That’s a bargain for 73 extra horses and 170 extra lb-ft of torque. Typically engine upgrades cost a lot more.

Plus, you can save even more with the WT and LT trims, because they are the only models available with 2WD. The rest of the lineup has standard 4×4. By the way, adding 4×4 costs $3,300.

With the base engine, the Colorado can tow up to 3,500 lbs. But with the TurboMax, it can tow up to 7,700 lbs. That’s a 4,200 lbs difference in capability. Also, the 2024 Colorado can carry a payload of up to 1,684 lbs.

The base engine helps the Colorado accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.5 seconds. But with the TurboMax, the Colorado can reach 60 mph in 6.0 seconds. That’s roughly 1.5 seconds faster.

You can get started with the WT trim for $31,095, including the destination fee. It starts with the basics like 17-inch wheels, a push button start, an 11.0-inch digital gauge cluster, an 11.3-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system, and trailer hitch guidance.

Safety features include automatic emergency braking, lane departure mitigation, and automatic high beam assist.

The LT starts at $33,495 and adds rear air vents, a front center console, an extra USB port, keyless entry, and a remote locking tailgate.
