The 2024 Cadillac CT5 is one of the best luxury cars on the market in some regards. However, the base trims of the car aren’t perfect, as they are less than stellar in a few ways. Of course, the CT5 has a great look and tons of features, but it still comes up short for those who don’t invest in the V or V Blackwing models. Unfortunately, the same is true for the 2023 Cadillac CT5.

Here’s how the new Cadillac CT5 is less than luxurious.

The 2024 Cadillac CT5 is not among the best luxury cars for performance

The 2024 Cadillac CT5 isn’t among the best luxury cars when it comes to driving experience. J.D. Power only gave the midsize sedan a 73 out of 100, which is its lowest category from the marketing research firm. They base this score on how owners feel about aspects of the car, such as performance, comfort, technology, etc. However, performance is one of the most important parts of the score.

Regarding performance, the 2024 Cadillac CT5 is a bit underpowered in comparison to what many might expect. It uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four that makes 237 horsepower and has a torque of 258 lb-ft. This is a rear-wheel drive car that uses a 10-speed automatic transmission. Regarding speed, it takes the car 6.6 seconds to get from 0 to 60 miles per hour. The same is true for the 2023 Cadillac CT5.

For comparison, the more expensive 2024 Cadillac CT5 V and V Blackwing trims are much more powerful. The first of the two uses a turbocharged 360 HP 3.0-liter V6 engine that has a torque of 405 lb-ft. The V Blackwing trim has a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with a maximum output of 668 horsepower and a torque of 659 lb-ft.

The CT5 doesn’t have a great resale value

The 2024 Cadillac CT5 isn’t among the best luxury cars for resale value. It has a 77 out of 100, which is only an average score. Of course, this doesn’t make the CT5 a bad investment. However, considering this with the lower powered base trims, it may be best for buyers to look elsewhere. Unfortunately, the 2023 Cadillac CT5 also a less-than-stellar resale value.

It is necessary to point out that luxury cars don’t tend to have the best resale values. This is often due to lower demand for these more expensive vehicles. Still, a high resale value won’t matter to all buyers because some people tend to hold on to their cars for a while.

Overall, the 2024 Cadillac CT5 has quite a bit going for itself. However, it doesn’t have the best resale value, and its base trim isn’t among the best luxury cars for performance. The midsize sedan starts at $38,395, but you’ll have to pay much more for real power.
