We might have an upset to discuss as the Nissan Rogue pulls ahead of the Honda CR-V. This underdog could be a better SUV than you think, as it starts the year with a sizable lead. Let’s see why the 2023 Nissan Rogue outsells the 2023 Honda CR-V.

2023 Nissan Rogue vs. 2023 Honda CR-V

Watch out for the 2023 Nissan Rogue because it’s a more competitive option against the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V than expected. These SUVs each started the year with a boom, but the Rogue is actually ahead of the 2023 Honda CR-V.

This is a little unexpected because the CR-V has been the RAV4’s primary rival for years, and it just received a complete refresh.

According to Car and Driver, the 2023 Rogue has moved 76,499 units so far this year. It landed in sixth place on the list of best-selling vehicles. The CR-V landed in seventh place, with 67,241 units sold.

The Rogue experienced a 69% sales increase over the same time period as last year, and CR-V sales increased by 15%. However, the 2023 Toyota RAV4 is still king and has already sold 84,704 models. The Rogue might have a better chance of catching it than the CR-V.

Is the 2023 Rogue bigger than the 2023 CR-V?

The 2023 Nissan Rogue is slightly longer than the 2023 Honda CR-V, but is that enough to persuade drivers? The Rogue has a little more headroom and legroom in the front row, making it more comfortable for taller drivers.

Both SUVs provide a similar amount of headroom in the rear seat, but the CR-V has more legroom. So passengers can stretch out a little more.

The Rogue provides up to 36.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and up to 74.1 cubes overall. The CR-V has 39.7 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 76.5 cubes total.

But the Rogue has more accessible storage bins and trays to take advantage of.

The Nissan Rogue has a standard turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with 201 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.8 seconds. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 1,500 lbs.

With the Honda CR-V, the standard turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine cranks out 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque. It reaches 60 mph in roughly 8.7 seconds. It can tow up to 1,500 lbs.

Does the Rogue offer more value than the CR-V?

The 2023 Nissan Rogue has more standard features than the 2023 Honda CR-V. For example, it has high-beam assist, tinted rear privacy glass, rear AC vents, an 8.0-inch infotainment system, satellite radio, rear seat reminder, and a long list of safety features.

While the Rogue may have a smoother ride over the pavement, the CR-V has less body roll and more responsive steering. Both SUVs provide a quiet cabin.

The Rogue has a slightly more attractive cabin with contrasting colors and plush soft-touch-covered materials. You can opt for wood grain trim and premium quilted leather upholstery. It offers a  tri-zone climate control system too.

The CR-V has slightly more passenger space and more cargo space, but the Rouge is a little faster with more cargo organization solutions. It also packs in extra value and more premium amenities.
