When the redesigned Honda CR-V dropped, we were slightly surprised by its high price tag. While the standard model does include a lot of value, a few rivals, such as the Toyota RAV4, seemed more affordable. But the 2023 Honda CR-V LX trim fixes things with a lower cost.

The people have spoken, and Honda listened by reintroducing the Honda CR-V LX model to the lineup. It was brought back from the dead due to overwhelming demand and could help mitigate production issues

You can get started with the 2023 Honda CR-V LX model for $28,410. This provides $3,200 worth of savings. When you add the $1,295 destination fee, the total comes to $29,705, so it does start under $30,000.

But according to AutoBlog, the CR-V LX model is pretty basic. It features 17-inch steel wheels that are covered by plastic hubcaps, and the rear windows aren’t tinted. It has a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, push-button start, and a four-speaker audio system.

The CR-V EX trim for $31,355 after the destination fee includes heated mirrors, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, a sunroof, pockets on the back of the front seats, and power windows.

These items were removed from the LX trim, but you still get tons of safety features and the same standard engine. You can add AWD for $1,500.

Standard safety features include forward collision warning, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and traffic jam assist.

This model could help speed up production because it doesn’t require as many semiconductor chips as higher trim levels.

Is the CR-V LX a good deal?

The competitive 2023 Honda CR-V LX has a competitive price compared to rivals. The 2023 Toyota RAV4 starts at $27,975 before its destination fee. Plus, the CR-V features a solid amount of standard power.

The CR-V has a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.0 seconds, which is average for the class. It gets up to 28 mpg in the city and up to 34 mpg on the highway.

You can upgrade to the CR-V Hybrid, which starts at $32,400 for a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor to generate 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. It gets an EPA-estimated 43 mpg in the city and up to 36 mpg on the highway.

It has the same touchscreen, interior materials, and upholstery as the EX model. Higher trims have a 9.0-inch screen, though. So, it has all of the basics without lacking power or safety features.

Yes, the 2023 Honda CR-V LX is a well-equipped SUV that checks off plenty of boxes. It has all the basics for comfort, infotainment, and safety, with plenty of space. The front and second rows have tons of room for the driver and passenger.

Plus, the Honda CR-V provides 39.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and up to 76.5 cubes overall. The layout includes well-placed cubbies and trays to take advantage of.

It features a smooth ride with composed handling and confident breaks. The interior is pretty quiet, but the hybrid engine is sometimes noticeable.

Higher trims offer a little more comfort and convenience with things like a power liftgate, heated seats, a panoramic moonroof, leather upholstery, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a wireless phone charging pad, and built-in navigation.

If you want something a little sportier or with more towing power, then you may want to consider other options. But the 2023 Honda CR-V LX is a well-rounded SUV that starts under $30,000.
